Overview

FortiSandbox 500G runs Fortinet’s Content-Aware Advanced Security Engine (CAASE), detonating suspicious files in fully isolated guest-OS environments to detect zero-day malware and advanced persistent threats before they reach users. Two Universal VM slots are included from the factory and cover a broad range of file types. The appliance ships with three OS licenses, one Windows 11, one Windows 10, and one Office 2021 VM, so common document and executable threats are covered without additional licensing at purchase.

Local VM capacity expands to a maximum of 14 simultaneous VMs, and the appliance can offload analysis to FortiSandbox Cloud for burst capacity of up to 80 cloud VM slots. Integration with FortiGate, FortiMail, FortiWeb, and other Security Fabric products allows inline or API-based file submission, so the sandbox sits directly in the path of email, web, and network traffic flows without manual triage.
