FortiWiFi firewalls models

Grouped by series, smallest to largest. Each model is a FortiGate NGFW with an integrated Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) access point. Click a series to see its models and pick the right variant. Threat protection is the number to size on, it reflects full inspection running (IPS, antivirus, application control).

Why FortiWiFi instead of a FortiGate plus a separate access point?
  • One desktop device combines a next-gen firewall, SD-WAN router and a Wi-Fi 6 access point, fewer boxes, one console, one warranty.
  • The built-in radios are managed by FortiOS, so wireless SSIDs use the same security profiles and policies as your wired traffic, no separate controller.
  • Ideal where you cannot rack gear or run cabling: branches, retail, clinics, remote and home offices, and temporary or pop-up sites.
  • The 70G, 80F and 81F models use dual radios to serve 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz at the same time for more clients and throughput; 5G/LTE and DSL variants add a wireless or broadband WAN so a single unit is the whole edge.

Still supported

Legacy models: renewals available

No longer sold as new hardware, but your existing FortiWiFi units can still be renewed and supported. Grouped by series; keep them current with genuine FortiCare and FortiGuard renewals until the last service date.

What the dates mean
  • EOO (End of Order): last date the hardware could be ordered new from Fortinet.
  • LSED (Last Service Extension Date): the deadline that matters. Last date you can buy or renew FortiCare support and FortiGuard subscriptions. After this, the unit can no longer be renewed.
  • EOS (End of Support): final date Fortinet provides support or firmware. After this the device is fully unsupported.
A FortiWiFi is Legacy between EOO and LSED (renewable). Once it passes LSED it becomes End-of-Life.

Right-sized Fortinet

Which FortiWiFi is right for you?

Pick by how many people and devices share the site and how much inspected traffic the link carries. These are starting points, not hard limits. If you are between two models, size up so security features and Wi-Fi clients have headroom.

Home & small office

1–20 users · single site · light Wi-Fi load
  • Compact desktop, fanless, integrated Wi-Fi 6
  • Secure teleworker and small-office wireless
  • Models: 30G, 31G
Most popular: FortiWiFi 30G for a clean all-in-one office edge.

Branch & retail

20–100 users · guest + staff SSIDs · ~1 Gbps inspected
  • More ports, dual-radio Wi-Fi, optional PoE
  • Run guest and corporate wireless side by side
  • Models: 50G, 70G, 70G-PoE
Most popular: FortiWiFi 70G for busy branches that need PoE.

Larger branch & flexible WAN

Higher density · cellular / DSL uplinks · resilient edge
  • Dual-radio Wi-Fi 6, more GE and shared WAN ports
  • 5G/LTE and DSL variants for sites without fiber
  • Models: 80F-2R, 81F, 50G-5G-II, 50G-DSL

Where FortiWiFi fits

Deployments we size FortiWiFi for

Branch & retail

A desktop NGFW and Wi-Fi 6 access point in one unit, with separate guest and staff SSIDs and built-in SD-WAN, no extra controller or AP.

Remote & home office

Secure teleworkers with the same FortiOS policy as headquarters, managed wireless and firewalling in a single compact device.

Clinics & pop-up sites

Fast to deploy where you cannot rack equipment or run cabling, ideal for healthcare, events and temporary locations.

Sites without fiber

5G/LTE and DSL variants give a wireless or broadband WAN, so a single FortiWiFi becomes the whole edge where fixed broadband is limited.

Centrally managed wireless

Built-in radios are managed by FortiOS and FortiManager alongside any FortiAPs, one policy model for wired and wireless.

Secure SD-WAN branch

Every FortiWiFi includes SD-WAN, so you consolidate routing, dual-WAN failover, Wi-Fi and security in one box per site.

FortiGuard subscriptions

What security services do you add?

A FortiWiFi appliance enforces firewall, Wi-Fi and SD-WAN on its own. To turn on threat protection, you add a FortiGuard bundle, the same subscriptions as any FortiGate. Three tiers, billed per appliance per term (1, 3 or 5 years).

Entry

ATP bundle

FortiCare support plus core threat protection: IPS, antivirus, application control and inline malware prevention. Good for small offices that need solid protection on a budget.

Most popular

UTP bundle

Everything in ATP plus web/DNS filtering, anti-botnet and more FortiGuard services. The common choice for most branch and retail deployments.

Complete

Enterprise bundle

The full FortiGuard catalog: adds SD-WAN underlay, attack-surface and SOC/NOC services. For organizations that want everything on.

Not sure which tier? Ask us to scope it for your site, and we will recommend the smallest bundle that covers you.

FAQ

FortiWiFi firewalls, common questions

A FortiWiFi is the same FortiGate next-generation firewall with an integrated Wi-Fi 6 access point built in. It runs identical FortiOS, the same firewall, SD-WAN and FortiGuard security, and simply adds onboard wireless radios so one desktop unit covers both wired and Wi-Fi clients at a small site.

For a single small site, no, the built-in radios cover it. Add FortiAPs when you need wider coverage or more capacity across a larger floorplan; the same FortiWiFi manages them, so you keep one wireless controller and one policy model.

The current G and F lineup is Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax). The 70G, 80F and 81F models use dual radios to serve 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz at the same time for more clients and higher throughput, while the 30G and 50G families integrate single-radio Wi-Fi 6 for smaller sites.

Yes, for threat protection. The appliance handles firewall, Wi-Fi and SD-WAN on its own, but IPS, antivirus, web filtering and the rest come from a FortiGuard bundle (ATP, UTP or Enterprise) billed per appliance per term. Most small businesses pick UTP. We can scope the right tier for you.

Size by users and inspected throughput. A 1–20 user office is well served by a 30G or 31G; a 20–100 user branch with guest Wi-Fi by the 50G or 70G (70G-PoE if you power phones or cameras); a larger or connectivity-flexible site by the 80F-2R and 81F, or a 5G/LTE/DSL variant where fiber is not available.

All hardware is brand-new and factory-sealed, sourced as an Authorized Fortinet Select Partner. Shipping is free across Canada, typically 0–1 business days. Licenses and renewals are delivered electronically worldwide, usually within hours.
