The FortiWiFi 31G is a current-generation ‘G’ series appliance, fully supported with active FortiGuard and FortiCare subscriptions. It is the FortiWiFi 30G with a 30 GB onboard SSD added for local logging.
Both have the same performance and integrated Wi-Fi 6 radio. The FortiWiFi 31G adds a 30 GB onboard SSD for local logging and reporting; the 30G has no onboard storage. Choose the 31G when you want on-box logs.
Performance, ports, and the 30 GB SSD are identical. The FortiWiFi 31G adds an integrated dual-band Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) access point with three antennas, so one unit handles firewall, SD-WAN, and wireless. The FortiGate 31G is wired-only.
Most small sites choose UTP for web, DNS, and video filtering on top of IPS and anti-malware. ATP covers core threat protection only. Enterprise adds the full SASE and security service set.
