Fortinet TradeUp Program

Two groups qualify. First, any Fortinet appliance that has passed its End of Order date and still has a valid support subscription, or one that expired within the last 12 months. Those models are listed in the eligibility table on this page. Second, current models that are still on sale also qualify for trade-up savings when you are replacing them with a newer unit in the same model range. If you are not sure which group your appliance falls into, send us the model and we will confirm.

No. If your old appliance is past End of Order and its services are still valid, the remaining time on those services transfers to the replacement appliance. The transfer is made against the new hardware unit itself, so it applies to a standalone appliance rather than to a hardware plus services bundle. Once the transfer is done you can add any extra subscriptions you want on top.

Enough to change the decision for most customers. Trade-up pricing is materially better than buying the same appliance outright, and it applies to the hardware, the hardware bundles and the FortiCare and FortiGuard subscriptions that go with them. The exact figure depends on the model and the term, so we quote it per unit. Send us your current model and we will come back with the trade-up price.

End of Order (EOO) is the last day Fortinet accepts new orders for that model, so after that date it is no longer sold. End of Support (EOS) is the day Fortinet stops providing firmware updates, security service updates and hardware replacement for it. Both dates are shown for every model in the table above. The gap between them is your planning window: you can keep running the appliance until EOS, but you cannot renew past it.

It is retired. Once a unit has been traded up it cannot be resold, lent, rented, leased or used to deliver services to anyone else, and it cannot be traded up or renewed again. Plan on decommissioning it rather than redeploying it at a second site.

Easier than a rebuild. Fortinet includes a free FortiConverter Migration Service license for each FortiGate configuration conversion, and it runs from inside the FortiGate management console. Most conversions finish in under two hours and carry your existing policies across, which is what keeps misconfigurations and downtime out of the cutover.

Not necessarily. The table lists appliances that have already passed End of Order. Current models that are still on sale can also qualify for trade-up savings, with the replacement chosen from the same model range. A handful of small FortiGate and FortiWiFi models are specifically approved even though they are still current, because FortiOS 7.4.4 dropped proxy-based inspection on appliances with 2 GB of RAM or less. Ask us with your model and serial number and we will tell you where you stand.

A blank replacement means Fortinet has not published a like-for-like successor for that specific variant, usually a LENC, DSL or bypass model. It does not mean you are stuck. We size a replacement against your actual throughput, port count and feature use instead, and we will tell you honestly whether services can transfer to it.

Yes. Fortinet hardware ships across Canada, and most in-stock appliances leave within zero to one business days. Licensing and subscription renewals are delivered electronically and are not limited to Canada.

The program itself has no end date. Your eligibility does. Services on an appliance that is past End of Order can only be transferred while they are still valid or within 12 months of expiry, so the deadline that matters is the one on your own subscription, not the program.
