Yes. The FortiWiFi 51G is a current-generation G-series model built on Fortinet’s FortiSP5 ASIC. It is not end-of-life and is fully supported with active FortiGuard and FortiCare subscriptions available in 1, 3, and 5-year terms.

The two models are identical in performance (same FortiSP5 ASIC and FortiOS), interfaces, and integrated Wi-Fi 6 radio. The FortiWiFi 51G adds a 64 GB onboard SSD that enables local log storage, on-box reporting, and FortiAnalyzer Cloud integration without a separate appliance.

The built-in radio supports 802.11a/b/g/n/ac/ax (Wi-Fi 6) across dual bands — 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz — with MU-MIMO 2×2. Maximum link rates are 1,201 Mbps at 5 GHz and 574 Mbps at 2.4 GHz.

Yes. The FortiLink GE RJ45 port supports up to 8 FortiSwitches and 16 total FortiAPs (tunnel mode). The built-in radio counts as one managed AP, so you can extend wireless coverage with additional FortiAPs from the same FortiOS console.

UTP (Unified Threat Protection) covers IPS, anti-malware, web and DNS filtering, antispam, and application control — the most common choice for branch and SMB deployments. Enterprise adds DLP and AI inline malware prevention. ATP covers the core threat stack without web/content filtering.
