Built on Fortinet's SP5 secure SD-WAN ASIC, it delivers 1.1 Gbps of threat protection, 5 Gbps firewall throughput, 720,000 concurrent sessions, and integrated SD-WAN. The 64 GB SSD adds on-box logging and local reporting, so a small office or branch gets firewall, SD-WAN, Wi-Fi 6, and local visibility from a single appliance. The FortiWiFi 50G is the same platform without the onboard SSD.

The FortiWiFi 51G is a current-generation ‘G’ series appliance, fully supported with active FortiGuard and FortiCare subscriptions. It is Fortinet’s compact desktop firewall that adds a 64 GB onboard SSD to the 50G platform and includes an integrated Wi-Fi 6 access point for branch and small-office sites.
The onboard 64 GB SSD stores local logs and reports on the appliance, which is useful where central FortiAnalyzer or FortiGate Cloud logging is limited or where on-box visibility is required. The FortiWiFi 50G is the same platform without the SSD.
The security performance, ports, and 64 GB SSD are the same. The FortiWiFi 51G adds an integrated dual-band Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) access point with three antennas, so one unit handles firewall, SD-WAN, and wireless. The FortiGate 51G is wired-only, with no Wi-Fi.
Most sites choose UTP for web, DNS, and video filtering on top of IPS and anti-malware. ATP covers core threat protection only. Enterprise adds the full SASE and security service set. Hardware-plus-bundle SKUs are listed below by term.
