It is built for branch, retail, and mobile sites that need cellular WAN, as a primary link or automatic failover, plus on-site Wi-Fi 6 from a single appliance, with no separate router, modem, or access point. Dual SIMs let you fail over between carriers, and the Telit Cinterion FN990A28-HP module covers 5G sub-6 and 4G LTE bands worldwide.

The FortiWiFi 50G-5G-II is a current-generation ‘G’ series appliance, fully supported with active FortiGuard and FortiCare subscriptions. It is Fortinet’s desktop firewall that pairs an integrated 5G WAN modem with a Wi-Fi 6 access point for branch and mobile sites.
It has an embedded 5G NR sub-6 / 4G LTE modem (Telit Cinterion FN990A28-HP) with two nano-SIM slots in active/passive mode for carrier failover, plus a Gigabit RJ45 WAN port for wired uplink. SD-WAN can load-balance or fail over between the cellular and wired links.
The security performance and 5G WAN modem are the same. The FortiWiFi 50G-5G-II adds an integrated dual-band Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) access point, so a single unit handles firewall, SD-WAN, cellular WAN, and wireless. The FortiGate 50G-5G is cellular and wired only, with no Wi-Fi.
Most sites choose UTP for web, DNS, and video filtering on top of IPS and anti-malware. ATP covers core threat protection only. Enterprise adds the full SASE and security service set. Hardware-plus-bundle SKUs are listed below by term.
