Product description

A 3-year term sits in a practical middle ground: long enough to capture meaningful per-year savings over annual renewals, short enough to align with most IT refresh cycles. Pair that with Fortinet’s full Enterprise security stack and the FortiWiFi 50G-5G-II-A’s built-in Gen-II 5G modem, and the FWF-50G-5G-II-A-BDL-809-36 makes sense for compliance-sensitive Canadian branches that need maximum protection depth without locking in for five years.

What the Bundle Includes

The FWF-50G-5G-II-A-BDL-809-36 packages the FortiWiFi 50G-5G-II-A hardware appliance with three years of FortiCare Premium support and three years of the FortiGuard Enterprise Protection subscription — all registered together as a single entitlement from the shipment date. No annual renewal is required during the 3-year term.

What Enterprise Covers

Enterprise is the comprehensive FortiGuard bundle. It covers IPS and Advanced Malware Protection as the baseline, adds URL, DNS, and Video Filtering plus anti-spam for full web security, and then goes further with AI-based inline malware prevention for real-time zero-day blocking, Data Loss Prevention (DLP) to control sensitive data in motion, Attack Surface Security with IoT and OT device detection plus virtual patching, OT Security with industrial protocol decoders, and FortiGuard SOCaaS for 24×7 cloud-managed log monitoring. Inline CASB is not available on the 50G series from FortiOS 7.4.4 onwards.

A quick look at how Enterprise compares to the other FortiGuard tiers available for this appliance:

Who It Suits

The 3-year Enterprise bundle targets teams where data handling regulations drive the security requirements: legal offices with client records, healthcare branches processing clinical data, and financial services sites subject to PCI or OSB audit requirements. The OT security services also make this relevant for light manufacturing or industrial monitoring sites that co-locate IT and OT networks on the same appliance. Dual-SIM 5G failover keeps the branch connected when a fixed WAN drops, which auditors increasingly note as an availability requirement.

Other Terms and Models

The same Enterprise stack is available in a 1-year term (FWF-50G-5G-II-A-BDL-809-12) and a 5-year term (FWF-50G-5G-II-A-BDL-809-60) for organizations that plan further ahead. If DLP and SOCaaS are not in scope for your compliance requirements, the UTP bundle at 3 years (FWF-50G-5G-II-A-BDL-950-36) offers a meaningful cost reduction. The FWF-70G-A-BDL-809-36 steps up the throughput and port count while maintaining the same Enterprise + 3-year structure.

Buying from DataCenter360.ca

DataCenter360.ca ships FortiGate hardware and FortiGuard bundles to Canadian businesses as a Fortinet Select Partner. In-stock units leave our warehouse free of charge across Canada within 0 to 1 business days. Pre-sales questions on compliance suitability, multi-site pricing, and renewal planning for existing contracts go directly to our team. We do not route queries through a distributor, so you get a faster and more useful answer.

Does the 3-year Enterprise bundle need to be renewed annually?

No. The BDL format registers hardware and service together as a single 3-year entitlement. The Enterprise subscription runs continuously through the full term without any annual renewal action. Your FortiCare portal displays the contract end date at initial device registration.

What DLP capabilities are available on the FortiWiFi 50G-5G-II?

DLP on the FWF-50G-5G-II-A inspects traffic for predefined sensitive data patterns (credit card numbers, SINs, custom regex patterns) and can log, block, or quarantine matching sessions. DLP becomes fully available from FortiOS 7.4.1. Note that Inline CASB — which extends visibility to SaaS application data flows — is not available on the 50G series from FortiOS 7.4.4.

How does the OT Security service work on a branch desktop appliance?

OT Security provides protocol decoders for common industrial protocols, OT device detection and vulnerability correlation, virtual patching for discovered OT CVEs, and OT-specific application control signatures. It is useful even in light OT environments such as building management, point-of-sale networks, or manufacturing sites where IT and OT traffic share the same firewall.

What is the Gen-II 5G modem and how is it configured?

The Gen-II 5G modem in the FWF-50G-5G-II-A is the second generation of Fortinet’s integrated cellular module, with updated 5G band support compared to the original FG-50G-5G variant. Each SIM slot is configured as a separate WAN interface in FortiOS, and SD-WAN policies control traffic steering and automatic failover between the SIM interfaces and any wired WAN connections.

Can I add more wireless clients than the built-in radio supports?

The FWF-50G-5G-II-A supports up to 16 FortiAPs in total, managed directly from the FortiGate interface. For offices where the integrated Wi-Fi 6 radio does not cover the full floor area, adding one or two FortiAPs extends coverage under the same security policy without requiring a separate wireless controller.
