The onboard SSD adds local logging and reporting, so a branch or growing small office gets firewall, SD-WAN, Wi-Fi 6, and on-box visibility from one appliance. The FortiWiFi 71G is a current-generation ‘G’ series appliance, fully supported with active FortiGuard and FortiCare subscriptions. It is Fortinet’s high-port-density desktop firewall that adds a 64 GB onboard SSD and an integrated dual-radio Wi-Fi 6 access point for branch and small-office sites.
The onboard 64 GB SSD stores local logs and reports on the appliance, which is useful where central FortiAnalyzer or FortiGate Cloud logging is limited or where on-box visibility is required. The FortiWiFi 70G is the same platform without the SSD.
The security performance, ports, and 64 GB SSD are the same. The FortiWiFi 71G adds an integrated dual-radio Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) access point with three antennas, so one unit handles firewall, SD-WAN, and wireless. The FortiGate 71G is wired-only, with no Wi-Fi.
Most sites choose UTP for web, DNS, and video filtering on top of IPS and anti-malware. ATP covers core threat protection only. Enterprise adds the full SASE and security service set. Hardware-plus-bundle SKUs are listed below by term.
