Product description

Running a FortiWiFi 71G means you already have firewall, SD-WAN, and integrated wireless in one unit. The Data Loss Prevention subscription extends that inspection to outbound data flows: it scans traffic leaving your network for patterns that signal sensitive data — credit card numbers, social insurance numbers, health identifiers, and custom-defined patterns your compliance team requires. When a match is found, the policy you set determines what happens next: log it, block it, or quarantine the session.

What FortiGuard DLP Covers

The FC-10-FW71G-589-02-12 license activates the DLP engine in FortiOS on your FortiWiFi 71G. Coverage spans HTTP, HTTPS, SMTP, IMAP, POP3, FTP, and common cloud upload protocols. Pre-built Fortinet pattern libraries handle standard regulatory identifiers out of the box; your administrator can also define custom patterns for proprietary data formats.

Because the FortiWiFi 71G passes both wired and wireless traffic through a single FortiOS security engine, one DLP policy covers everything attached to the device — including BYOD devices on the Wi-Fi network.

Who Needs This License

Professional services firms — legal, accounting, healthcare — that handle client data under PIPEDA, HIPAA, or payment card standards are the most direct fit. Any SMB where employees routinely transfer files to personal cloud storage (OneDrive personal, Google Drive) or send documents over webmail stands to benefit from monitoring that traffic. It also supports breach notification readiness: if a data transfer event occurs, DLP logs give you a starting point for incident response.

Activation and Delivery

DataCenter360.ca processes orders and delivers license keys electronically. Most keys are issued within the same business day. You activate through the FortiGate management console under System > FortiGuard, or through the FortiCloud portal if your device is registered there. DLP signature packages update automatically once the license is active — no manual downloads required.

DLP as a Standalone Service

FortiGuard DLP is an à-la-carte subscription — it is not bundled into the ATP, UTP, or Enterprise tiers for the FortiWiFi 71G. If you currently run a bundle and want to add DLP coverage, this license is the correct addition. If you are building a subscription set from scratch and need DLP alongside IPS, web filtering, and antivirus, ask DataCenter360.ca about the full service catalogue for the FortiWiFi 71G.

Buying from DataCenter360.ca

We are a Fortinet Select Partner in Ontario, authorized to sell the full FortiWiFi 71G service lineup. Licenses are issued through Fortinet’s official partner portal and appear in your FortiCare account immediately on activation. Worldwide electronic delivery means no border delays — your team in Canada, the US, or anywhere else receives the key the same way.

Is the DLP subscription available for purchase anywhere in the world?
Yes. DataCenter360.ca delivers FortiGuard licenses electronically to any country. There are no shipping restrictions on software entitlements.

Does FortiGuard DLP protect Wi-Fi clients on the FortiWiFi 71G?
Yes. The FortiWiFi 71G processes all traffic — wired and wireless — through the same FortiOS security engine, so DLP policies apply to both LAN and WLAN clients without any additional configuration.

Is DLP included in the UTP or Enterprise bundle for the FortiWiFi 71G?
No. FortiGuard DLP (service code 589) is an à-la-carte subscription sold separately from the ATP, UTP, and Enterprise bundles. You purchase it in addition to, or instead of, a bundle.

What data types does FortiGuard DLP detect by default?
The pre-built pattern libraries cover credit card numbers (Visa, MC, Amex, Discover), Canadian and US Social Security/Insurance numbers, and health record identifiers. Administrators can add custom patterns for proprietary formats.

What happens when my 1-year DLP license expires?
The DLP engine keeps running but stops receiving updated signature packages. Detection for new data patterns added after expiry will lapse. Renewing before the expiry date is recommended to maintain continuous coverage.
