Product description

Malware doesn’t care whether a device connects over Ethernet or Wi-Fi. The Advanced Malware Protection subscription for the FortiWiFi 71G adds antivirus scanning, mobile malware detection, and cloud-based sandbox analysis directly to your wireless gateway, so threats get checked at the perimeter before they reach any endpoint — wired or wireless.

What AMP Covers on the FortiWiFi 71G

The FC-10-FW71G-100-02-12 license activates three components of the FortiGuard AMP service:

  • Antivirus: Signature-based file inspection covering executable files, documents, archives, and scripts in HTTP, HTTPS, SMTP, FTP, and other protocols. Signatures update from FortiGuard on a regular schedule.
  • Mobile malware detection: Includes signatures for Android and iOS threat patterns, relevant on networks with BYOD devices connecting over the FortiWiFi 71G’s wireless interface.
  • FortiSandbox Cloud: Suspicious files that don’t match known signatures are sent to Fortinet’s cloud sandbox for behavioral analysis. Files that exhibit malicious behavior in the sandbox are blocked from delivery.

Who Needs a Standalone AMP License

FortiWiFi 71G deployments that haven’t yet moved to a bundle subscription use the AMP license to add file-level threat inspection at the gateway. Environments with a significant number of BYOD mobile devices connecting over Wi-Fi particularly benefit from the mobile malware component. The cloud sandbox is also relevant for organizations that receive files from external parties frequently — it catches novel threats that signature-only scanning misses.

AMP vs. the Full Bundle

FortiGuard AMP (antivirus and cloud sandbox) is included in all three bundle tiers for the FortiWiFi 71G. If you want a complete security stack, a bundle covers more services at a predictable per-device cost. The table below shows where AMP fits in the bundle hierarchy:

Capability ATP Bundle UTP Bundle Enterprise Bundle
Antivirus & Cloud Sandbox
Intrusion Prevention (IPS)
Application Control
URL, DNS & Video Filtering
Email Filter (Anti-Spam)
FortiConverter Migration Tool

For a device running only AMP as a starting point, this license gets gateway-level file inspection active immediately. When you are ready to add IPS, web filtering, and other services, the UTP or Enterprise bundle becomes the more efficient path.

Activation and Delivery

DataCenter360.ca delivers the AMP license key electronically. Orders are fulfilled within the same business day through Fortinet’s official partner portal. Activation through the FortiGate console or FortiCloud enables automatic signature updates and connects the device to FortiSandbox Cloud for the duration of the 1-year subscription. No additional hardware purchase required.

Buying from DataCenter360.ca

DataCenter360.ca is a Fortinet Select Partner in Ontario, carrying the complete FortiWiFi 71G service catalogue. We verify licenses against registered devices before delivery to ensure the subscription applies correctly. Electronic delivery to any country worldwide means the key reaches your team the same day, without courier delays or customs complications.

Is the AMP subscription available for purchase in Canada and worldwide?
Yes. DataCenter360.ca delivers FortiGuard licenses electronically to any country. There are no customs restrictions on software subscription keys.

Does AMP protect Wi-Fi clients on the FortiWiFi 71G?
Yes. The FortiWiFi 71G inspects all traffic passing through its FortiOS engine, including traffic from wireless clients. Antivirus scanning, mobile malware detection, and sandbox submission apply to files from both wired and wireless users.

Is AMP included in the ATP, UTP, and Enterprise bundles?
Yes. Advanced Malware Protection (antivirus and cloud sandbox) is part of all three bundle tiers. If you have an active bundle, AMP coverage is already included and you do not need this standalone license.

What happens to files that FortiSandbox Cloud flags as malicious?
Files submitted to FortiSandbox Cloud that exhibit malicious behavior during analysis are blocked from delivery to the endpoint. The FortiWiFi 71G also generates a log event for the block, which appears in FortiAnalyzer or the local device log.

What happens when my 1-year AMP subscription expires?
Antivirus signatures stop updating and FortiSandbox Cloud submission is suspended. The AV engine continues running with the last downloaded signatures but will not detect threats identified after expiry. Renewing before expiry maintains continuous protection.
