The FortiWiFi 81F-2R-PoE is the PoE model of the FortiGate 80F series: the 80F SoC4 secure SD-WAN ASIC — 900 Mbps threat protection, 10 Gbps firewall, 1.5 million sessions — plus dual-radio Wi-Fi 6, a 128 GB SSD, and six GE PoE/PoE+ ports with a 96 W power budget so it powers FortiAPs, IP phones and cameras directly. It is now end-of-order: hardware is no longer sold new, but subscriptions renew normally on installed units. For new PoE deployments, the current FortiWiFi 70G-PoE is the direct replacement.

The FortiWiFi 81F-2R-PoE reached end-of-order on 2026-05-17, so the hardware is no longer sold new. Fortinet supports it with renewals until 2031-05-17, so FortiGuard and FortiCare subscriptions on installed units renew normally — see the purchasing options above. For new deployments, choose the current FortiWiFi 70G-PoE or the still-sold FortiWiFi 81F-2R-3G4G-PoE.
The FortiWiFi 70G-PoE is the direct current-generation replacement: the same PoE branch-in-a-box role with integrated Wi-Fi 6 on Fortinet’s newer SP5 platform. If you also need integrated LTE, the FortiWiFi 81F-2R-3G4G-PoE remains available today.

Performance and Wi-Fi 6 are identical. The 81F-2R-PoE adds six PoE/PoE+ ports (96 W budget) to power access points, phones and cameras; the plain 81F-2R has no PoE. Both include the 128 GB onboard SSD.
