What the service covers

Three functional capabilities are bundled in this subscription:

• OT Device Detection: Continuously updated signature packages identify and classify OT devices on the network, including PLCs, HMIs, historians, and similar hardware. That inventory feeds directly into NAC policies and compliance dashboards, giving security teams an accurate picture of what is actually connected.
• OT Vulnerability Correlation and Virtual Patching: Discovered OT devices are correlated against a FortiGuard-maintained vulnerability database. Where a known exploit path exists and the device cannot be patched directly, the FortiGate can apply a targeted IPS virtual patch at the network layer to block the attack vector in the meantime.
• OT Application Control and IPS: Extends FortiOS policy enforcement and anomaly detection to industrial protocols including Modbus, DNP3, and IEC 61850. OT compliance dashboards and reports are also included, providing a structured view of posture across the OT environment.

Who needs it

Organizations running the FortiGate 3200F in environments where IT and OT converge: utilities, manufacturing, oil and gas, transportation, and critical infrastructure operators. The 3200F delivers 63 Gbps IPS throughput, so OT traffic inspection at data center scale does not become a performance chokepoint. Managed security providers with OT-adjacent customers on a shared FortiGate infrastructure are also a common use case.

OT Security (service code 159) is exclusively a standalone subscription. It is not included in any FortiGuard Enterprise, UTP, or ATP bundle. Organizations that already carry one of those bundles add this subscription on top to extend coverage into the OT layer.

Activation and delivery

This license is delivered electronically. After order confirmation, DataCenter360.ca provides a registration code that activates the service in FortiCare. FortiOS then integrates the OT capabilities automatically and begins pulling updated OT signature packages from FortiGuard Labs. No hardware changes are required on the FortiGate 3200F.
