Product description

Data center firewalls live or die by throughput per rack unit, and the FortiGate 2600F (FG-2600F) is built for that math: 31 Gbps of IPS throughput, 27 Gbps NGFW throughput, and 198 Gbps of firewall throughput out of a 2RU chassis. This listing is the hardware appliance only — no FortiGuard subscription included. It suits organizations that already hold a valid license from a previous unit, or that plan to license separately through DataCenter360.ca.

What’s in the box

The FG-2600F ships as a rack-mount 2RU appliance with dual hot-swappable AC power supplies for 1+1 redundancy, a console cable, and rack mounting hardware for standard EIA or non-EIA racks. FortiOS is preloaded. The port layout covers 4x 100GE/40GE QSFP28 slots, 16x 25GE/10GE/GE SFP28 slots, 16x 10GE/GE RJ45 ports, 2x 10GE SFP+ HA slots, and 2x GE RJ45 management ports, backed by Fortinet’s NP7 network processor and CP9 content processor for hardware-accelerated inspection. Two SFP+ (10GE SR) transceivers are included.

Where it’s strong

The 2600F’s NP7 and CP9 SPUs do the heavy lifting that would otherwise fall to a general-purpose CPU, which is why 198 Gbps of firewall throughput and 210 Mpps come out of a 2RU box drawing about 416 watts on average. Four QSFP28 slots give you 100GE data center core connectivity without a separate aggregation device, and the optional perpetual Hyperscale Firewall License unlocks 40 million concurrent sessions and 2 million new sessions per second by putting CGNAT session setup, logging, and NAT into NP7 hardware. Dual hot-swappable AC PSUs and a Trusted Platform Module round out the platform for demanding, always-on deployments.

Hardware alone vs. a bundle

Buy the FG-2600F on its own when you’re carrying over an active FortiGuard subscription from a unit being replaced, or adding capacity under an existing enterprise agreement. Starting fresh, an FG-2600F-BDL is typically the simpler purchase: it lands with FortiCare Premium support and a FortiGuard service tier (UTP or Enterprise) already attached, so the appliance is protecting traffic as soon as it’s racked. DataCenter360.ca stocks both the bare appliance and every bundle/term combination, so the hardware and licensing can come from one order regardless of which path you take.

Who runs a FortiGate 2600F

  • Enterprise data centers and campus cores needing sustained multi-gigabit inspection at 100GE/40GE speeds
  • Service providers and carriers running CGNAT, IPv6 migration, or hyperscale firewall workloads
  • Organizations consolidating segmentation, IPS, and SSL inspection onto fewer, denser appliances
  • Telco and mobile operators securing 4G/5G Gi/N6 interfaces with SPU-accelerated NAT44/NAT64

Moving up: FortiGate 2601F

The FortiGate 2601F keeps the same interface layout and SPU architecture but adds 2x 960GB NVMe SSD for onboard log storage and a modest bump in power draw, useful when compliance requirements call for local retention rather than shipping every log off-box. DC-powered variants (FG-2600F-DC, FG-2601F-DC) are also available for central-office and telco environments running -48VDC plants. All models run the same FortiOS release and integrate with the same Security Fabric tooling.

Buying from DataCenter360.ca

DataCenter360.ca ships the FG-2600F from Canadian stock, free of charge, within one business day of order. As an authorized Fortinet Select Partner, the team can confirm warranty registration and walk through Hyperscale Firewall License eligibility or FortiCare tier selection before the unit goes out the door. If you’re deciding between hardware-only and a pre-licensed FG-2600F-BDL, ask for a side-by-side cost comparison across your expected support term.

FortiGate 2600F (Hardware Only) – Frequently Asked Questions

Does the FG-2600F include a FortiGuard subscription?
No. This listing is the appliance only. FortiGuard security services and FortiCare support activate once a valid license is applied, either purchased separately or by choosing an FG-2600F-BDL bundle that includes a service tier from the start.
What does the Hyperscale Firewall License unlock on the 2600F?
It’s a perpetual, separately purchased license that uses the onboard NP7 processor to push concurrent sessions from 24 million to 40 million and new sessions per second from 1 million to 2 million, by hardware-accelerating session setup, logging, and NAT for CGNAT-scale deployments.
What is the difference between the FG-2600F and the FG-2601F?
The FG-2601F adds 2x 960GB NVMe SSD for local logging and draws slightly more power. Port layout, SPU architecture, and throughput specifications are otherwise identical between the two models.
Can FG-2600F hardware ship outside Canada?
Hardware ships within Canada only. FortiGuard subscriptions and FortiCare renewals are delivered electronically and available worldwide, so contact DataCenter360.ca for licensing on a 2600F already deployed in another country.
Does the FortiGate 2600F support high availability clustering?
Yes. The 2600F supports Active-Active, Active-Passive, and clustering HA configurations, and ships standard with dual hot-swappable AC power supplies for power-level redundancy independent of the HA topology chosen.
