Fortinet FortiGate 7081F Chassis with 2x SMM, 6x 2500W AC PSU and 3x Fan Modules (FG-7081F-CH)

The F-generation 7000 chassis moves to a 1 Tbps fabric, and the FG-7081F-CH is its 8-slot enclosure. This 12 RU unit hosts two FIM interface modules and up to six FPM processing modules, managed by two redundant system management modules. Fortinet ships it with six 2500W AC power supplies and three chassis fan modules already fitted, so what you add are the FIMs and FPMs that carry the traffic. It is both the starting point for a new 7081F build and the replacement part for a damaged enclosure.

Where this fits

Hyperscale edges, 5G cores and internet exchanges run the 7081F where E-series fabric capacity runs out: six FPM bays on a 1 Tbps fabric is an order of magnitude more headroom. The chassis order code matters for spares planning too, since enclosure, PSUs and fans fail independently of the modules inside.

Compatibility

Accepts FortiGate 7000F-series FIM and FPM modules (FIMs in slots 1-2, FPMs in slots 3-8). Matching FRUs: FG-7081F-FAN fan module, and the shared 2.5KW supplies FG7K-PS-2K5AC (with the SP-FGPCORSGD-C20-5 C20 cord set) or FG7K-PS-2K5DC on the DC chassis. The complete configured system is sold as the FortiGate 7081F appliance; the 12-slot big brother is the FG-7121F-CH.
