Fortinet Cross-Over Ethernet Cable for Fortinet Appliances (SP-CABLE-CRS)

The SP-CABLE-CRS is a Fortinet cross-over Ethernet patch cable. A cross-over cable swaps the transmit and receive pairs so two similar devices (for example FortiGate-to-FortiGate, or a NIC directly to another NIC) can talk to each other without a switch in between. It is listed for use with all Fortinet systems. For the standard device-to-switch connection, use the straight-through SP-CABLE-STR instead.

A cross-over cable is used for direct device-to-device links — bench testing two FortiGates back to back, connecting to legacy equipment that does not support auto-MDI/MDI-X, or a temporary point-to-point link. The SP-CABLE-CRS supplies a genuine Fortinet cross-over cable for these cases. For a normal connection into a switch or router port, order the straight-through SP-CABLE-STR.

Compatibility

Works with all Fortinet systems as a cross-over patch cable. Use it only where a cross-over is required (two like devices directly connected); most modern ports auto-sense, but a cross-over guarantees the link on equipment that does not. For device-to-switch runs use the straight-through SP-CABLE-STR — the two cables are wired differently and are not interchangeable.
