Overview

The FortiMail Cloud Email Continuity Subscription connects a VM04 instance to Fortinet’s continuity cloud, which monitors the on-premises gateway and activates the moment it becomes unreachable. During an outage, inbound messages are spooled in the cloud for up to 30 days. Users access a hosted webmail portal to read queued messages and compose new outbound mail, keeping communication open without a secondary on-premises server. Once the VM04 instance comes back online, spooled mail is automatically released and delivered in order. The 1-year license covers a single VM04 node (4 vCPUs) and is delivered as an electronic subscription worldwide, with no hardware component.
