The license key is delivered electronically, and the upgrade takes effect immediately upon activation in the FortiAuthenticator GUI.

Overview

FAC-HW-100UG is a hardware user-count upgrade for Fortinet FortiAuthenticator physical appliances. It does not include a new appliance, a subscription term, or software licensing — it increases the number of users who can authenticate through your existing 300F, 800F, 3000E, or 3000F unit by 100. The entitlement is perpetual: once applied, the capacity remains on the appliance for its lifetime with no annual renewal required.

FortiAuthenticator provides multi-factor authentication (MFA), single sign-on (SSO), certificate management, and RADIUS/LDAP authentication for network users and administrators. Expanding user capacity with FAC-HW-100UG means all of those capabilities automatically extend to cover the additional 100 users. No reconfiguration of authentication policies, RADIUS clients, or SSO connectors is needed — the appliance simply recognizes the higher licensed ceiling after the key is applied.

Current licensed user count and the appliance’s maximum supported ceiling are both visible in the FortiAuthenticator GUI under System > Administration > License. Multiple FAC-HW-100UG keys can be stacked on a single appliance up to that maximum.
