FAQ

FortiGate 300E - frequently asked questions

No. The FortiGate 300E (FG-300E) has reached end of life and the hardware is no longer sold. You can still renew FortiGuard security services and FortiCare support for an installed unit, and we can quote the current FortiGate 400F as a direct replacement.

The FortiGate 400F is the direct, currently-shipping replacement — same 1U form factor with 79.5 Gbps firewall throughput and 9 Gbps of threat protection, roughly 2.5x and 3x the FortiGate 300E. For more throughput, 25 GbE and higher session capacity, step up to the FortiGate 600F.

Yes, while the model is in its renewal window. Choose a FortiGuard + FortiCare renewal bundle (Enterprise, UTP or ATP) above, or renew individual FortiGuard services and FortiCare support. Licensing is delivered electronically worldwide.

The 300E series delivers 32 Gbps firewall throughput, 5 Gbps IPS, 3.5 Gbps NGFW, 3 Gbps threat protection and 20 Gbps IPsec VPN, with 4,000,000 concurrent sessions and 300,000 new sessions per second, accelerated by Fortinet’s NP6 and CP9 security processors.

The FortiGate 300E has sixteen GE RJ45 ports and sixteen GE SFP slots with no onboard storage. If you need local logging and reporting, the FortiGate 301E in the same series adds 2x 240 GB SSD storage; ports and security performance are identical.
