OVERVIEW

What the FortiGate 301E is for

The FortiGate 301E is an end-of-life 1U enterprise next-generation firewall from Fortinet's 300E series. Built on the NP6 and CP9 security processors, it delivers 32 Gbps of firewall throughput, 3.5 Gbps NGFW, 3 Gbps of threat protection and 4,000,000 concurrent sessions over sixteen GE RJ45 ports, sixteen GE SFP slots and 2x 240 GB onboard SSD storage. The 301E reached end of life, so the hardware is no longer sold; you can still renew its FortiGuard security services and FortiCare support to keep an installed unit protected, using the renewal bundles below.

When you are ready to replace it, the currently-shipping FortiGate 400F is the direct successor — roughly 2.5x the firewall throughput and 3x the threat protection of the 301E in the same 1U form factor — and the FortiGate 600F steps up further with 139 Gbps firewall, 8 million sessions and 25 GbE interfaces. FAQ

FortiGate 301E - frequently asked questions

No. The FortiGate 301E (FG-301E) has reached end of life and the hardware is no longer sold. You can still renew FortiGuard security services and FortiCare support for an installed unit, and we can quote the current FortiGate 400F as a direct replacement.

The FortiGate 400F is the direct, currently-shipping replacement — same 1U form factor with 79.5 Gbps firewall throughput and 9 Gbps of threat protection, roughly 2.5x and 3x the FortiGate 301E. For more throughput, 25 GbE and higher session capacity, step up to the FortiGate 600F.

Yes, while the model is in its renewal window. Choose a FortiGuard + FortiCare renewal bundle (Enterprise, UTP or ATP) above, or renew individual FortiGuard services and FortiCare support. Licensing is delivered electronically worldwide.

The 300E series delivers 32 Gbps firewall throughput, 5 Gbps IPS, 3.5 Gbps NGFW, 3 Gbps threat protection and 20 Gbps IPsec VPN, with 4,000,000 concurrent sessions and 300,000 new sessions per second, accelerated by Fortinet’s NP6 and CP9 security processors.

The FortiGate 301E is the FortiGate 300E plus 2x 240 GB SSD storage for local logging and reporting. Ports (sixteen GE RJ45 and sixteen GE SFP slots) and security performance are identical to the 300E; the standard 300E has no internal storage.
