It is the FortiGate 3500F platform with 2x 1.92 TB SSD added for local logging and reporting. It delivers 63 Gbps of threat protection, 72 Gbps IPS throughput, 595 Gbps firewall throughput, and 140 million concurrent sessions in a 2RU rack appliance — with six 100GE QSFP28 uplinks and thirty-two 25GE SFP28 slots. The FortiGate 3501F is a current-generation model, fully supported with active FortiGuard and FortiCare subscriptions available for 1, 3, and 5-year terms.
Performance is identical — both run on the same NP7 + CP9 platform. The FortiGate 3501F adds 2x 1.92 TB onboard SSD storage for local logging and reporting; the 3500F has no onboard storage. Choose the 3501F when you want on-box logs without a dedicated FortiAnalyzer.
Both run on the NP7 + CP9 platform. The 3501F delivers higher raw throughput (595 Gbps firewall and 72 Gbps IPS vs 387 Gbps and 63 Gbps), 140 million concurrent sessions, and 2x 1.92 TB onboard SSD, using 6x 100GE QSFP28 uplinks. The 3200F offers 4x 400GE QSFP-DD interface density.
The optional Hyperscale Firewall license unlocks additional NP7 hardware acceleration features, raising concurrent sessions from 140 million to 348 million and new sessions/second from 1 million to 5 million. It is a perpetual license for carrier and hyperscale deployments that need maximum session scale.
The FortiGate 3501F uses Fortinet’s NP7 network processor for firewall and VPN acceleration, and the CP9 content processor for IPS, SSL inspection, and application control. Both ASICs are custom silicon designed by Fortinet.
