The FortiGate 601F is a 1U rackmount next-generation firewall for data-center-edge and core sites that need on-box logging. It is the same platform as the 600F — 16 hardware-accelerated Gigabit RJ45 ports, eight GE SFP slots, four 10GbE SFP+ slots and four 25GbE SFP28 ultra-low-latency slots, Fortinet's NP7 and CP9 SPUs, 139 Gbps firewall throughput, 8 million concurrent sessions and 55 Gbps of IPsec VPN — and adds two 240 GB onboard SSDs for local logging, reporting and traffic capture. It runs FortiOS with built-in SD-WAN and ZTNA enforcement, with no add-on license needed for those features, and includes a Trusted Platform Module and dual hot-swappable AC power supplies for 1+1 redundancy. If you do not need onboard storage choose the 600F; step down to the 400F for smaller sites, or up to the 900G for higher data-center-core throughput.

The 601F is a shipping, fully supported FortiGate ‘F’ series next-generation firewall built on the NP7 and CP9 security processors, with active FortiGuard and FortiCare subscriptions available. It is the onboard-SSD model of the 600F line.
The 601F delivers 139 Gbps firewall throughput, 14 Gbps IPS, 11.5 Gbps NGFW, 10.5 Gbps threat protection and 9 Gbps SSL inspection, with 8 million concurrent sessions and 550,000 new sessions per second — identical to the 600F.
Sixteen hardware-accelerated Gigabit RJ45 ports, eight GE SFP slots, four 10GbE SFP+ slots and four 25GbE SFP28 ultra-low-latency slots, plus two GE RJ45 management/HA ports, two USB ports and one RJ45 console port. It ships with two 1GbE SX SFP transceivers.
The 601F adds two 240 GB onboard SSDs for local logging, reporting and traffic capture, at slightly higher power draw and weight. Performance, ports, the TPM and the 1U chassis are otherwise identical. For smaller sites choose the 400F; for more data-center-core throughput choose the 900G.
