The FortiGate Rugged 60G (FGR-60G) is a fanless, DIN-rail industrial next-generation firewall from Fortinet's rugged range, purpose-built for wired industrial cabinets, substations and plant-floor cells where the uplink is fibre or copper rather than cellular. Unlike an office-grade appliance it has no moving parts, runs from -40 to 75°C and accepts redundant DC power, so it survives the temperature swings, vibration and dirty power common in OT cabinets. It delivers 1.1 Gbps of threat protection, 2.25 Gbps IPS, 8 Gbps firewall throughput and 1.4 million concurrent sessions, with 6 ge rj45, two GE SFP slots, a hardware bypass pair (PORT1-2 RJ45), a MicroSD slot and a digital I/O module. It runs the same FortiOS as every other FortiGate, so the same policies, secure SD-WAN rules, FortiGuard subscriptions and FortiManager/FortiAnalyzer workflows apply, with industrial protocol recognition and ZTNA enforcement included at no extra licence cost.

Fortinet rates the FGR-60G at 1.1 Gbps threat protection, 2.25 Gbps IPS and 1.25 Gbps NGFW throughput on the Enterprise traffic mix, with 8 Gbps raw firewall throughput and 1.4 million concurrent sessions. Those are datasheet ceilings measured with logging enabled — size to roughly 60-70% of them for steady-state OT traffic.
Yes. It ships with a hardware bypass pair (PORT1-2 RJ45), so if the appliance loses power or reboots that port pair fails closed to a straight wire and the protected link stays up. That is what makes rugged FortiGates viable inline on a control network.

The appliance-only SKU includes FortiOS and hardware warranty but no FortiGuard security services. To get IPS, antivirus, web filtering and sandboxing you add a protection bundle — ATP, UTP or Enterprise — either as a factory bundle at purchase or as a subscription on an appliance you already own.
