The FPX-400G connects to clients via four GbE RJ45 ports, providing flexible LAN-side connectivity for office or campus deployments.

Hardware acceleration is provided by two CP9 content-processing chips, which offload inspection tasks from the main CPU. This keeps throughput consistent as policy complexity increases, avoiding the performance degradation that occurs when SSL inspection and web filtering are stacked on a general-purpose processor. Onboard storage totals 4TB across two 2TB drives, supporting local log retention, traffic archives, and web cache to reduce repeated upstream fetches and associated latency.
