The FG-201G ships as hardware only; all FortiGuard subscriptions are purchased separately. The appliance includes rack ears, a power cord, and a console cable. It ships with dual non-swappable AC PSUs in 1+1 redundancy and mounts in a standard 19-inch rack at 1U. Where It Stands Out

The jump from NP6XLite (201F) to NP7Lite (201G) shows most clearly in SSL inspection: the 201G pushes 7 Gbps through the TLS stack versus 4 Gbps on the 201F. That margin matters when the majority of traffic is HTTPS. The 8x 5GE RJ45 ports run at 5 Gbps while auto-negotiating with 2.5G and 1G devices, so existing CAT6 cabling reaches full NBASE-T throughput without new infrastructure. The 25-VDOM ceiling extends the platform to MSSP and multi-tenant use cases that the 201F cannot accommodate.

Hardware Only vs. Bundle

This listing is hardware without any FortiGuard subscription. It is the right SKU if you are migrating an existing license to new hardware, running a lab environment, or separating capital and operational budgets. The 201G targets medium enterprises with 300 to 800 users, multi-VLAN campus networks, and growing encrypted-traffic volumes. Organizations replacing aging FG-200E or FG-200F hardware find the port layout familiar while gaining significant throughput headroom. MSSPs using VDOMs to segment tenant firewalls also find the 201G cost-effective — 25 VDOMs in a 1U slot is difficult to match at this price tier.
