Where the G-Series Makes a Difference

The jump from FortiSoC4 (70F) to FortiSP5 (70G) is substantial. IPS throughput goes from 975 Mbps to 2.5 Gbps. Concurrent sessions nearly double to 1.4 million. New-session rate more than doubles to 85,000 per second. For sites expanding beyond light traffic profiles, adding encrypted SD-WAN overlays, or growing their SCADA network, the 70G handles the load without requiring a cabinet redesign. Hardware Alone vs Adding a License

The appliance ships without FortiGuard services and will route and filter based on ACLs only. IPS, malware scanning, OT protocol inspection, and application control require an active subscription. If this unit replaces a failed appliance under an existing FortiCare contract, hardware-only covers the replacement. For fresh deployments, add the UTP bundle (FC-10-GR70P-950-02-12) or Enterprise bundle (FC-10-GR70P-809-02-12) to engage the full FortiSP5 security stack.
