A FortiGate 1801F-DC running at the edge of a data center still needs eyes on it from somewhere else. The FortiGate 1801F-DC 1-Year FortiCloud Management, Analysis and Log Retention Service (FC-10-D18F1-131-02-12) puts that appliance behind FortiGate Cloud for twelve months: a hosted dashboard for configuration, monitoring, and reporting, plus a year of log storage off the box itself. Subscription only, no hardware included, and it activates the same way anywhere in the world.
FortiGate Cloud is Fortinet’s browser-based management layer for FortiGate appliances, reachable through the broader FortiCloud portal. Registering the FortiGate 1801F-DC against this license unlocks:
This is a management and analytics layer. It does not add IPS signatures, anti-malware updates, or web filtering; those come from the FortiGuard security bundles or a-la-carte security services, sold separately.
Data center and hybrid mesh firewall deployments running the 1800F/1801F series usually have more than one appliance and more than one site in the picture. Teams add FortiGate Cloud when local-only management stops scaling: no single pane across units, log data that outgrows on-box storage, or a need to hand a read-only reporting view to a manager without giving them CLI access. It’s also a common companion to FortiManager/FortiAnalyzer environments where FortiCloud fills the gap on units not yet migrated into that on-prem stack.
The license is issued electronically and tied to the FortiGate 1801F-DC by serial number. There is no physical shipment: once applied, the appliance registers to FortiGate Cloud and log/analysis data begins accumulating in the hosted account for the 12-month term. A valid FortiGate 1801F-DC (or 1801F-DC-DC hardware already in service) is required before the subscription can be activated.
Without this subscription, management and log review stay local to the appliance: SSH, the local GUI, and whatever storage the box itself retains. That’s workable for a single unit with a hands-on admin nearby. It gets harder once the 1801F-DC sits in a multi-site deployment, when a compliance requirement calls for retained logs beyond the appliance’s own capacity, or when a remote team needs dashboard access without VPNing into the management interface. FortiCloud doesn’t replace FortiManager or FortiAnalyzer at scale, but for a standalone unit or a smaller fleet it closes that gap without adding on-prem infrastructure.
DataCenter360.ca is an authorized Fortinet Select Partner supplying this license to customers worldwide. Electronic delivery means no waiting on freight, and the license activates against your existing FortiGate 1801F-DC serial number as soon as it’s issued. If you’re weighing this against FortiManager Cloud or a full FortiGuard security bundle for the same unit, reach out before ordering and we’ll walk through what fits your deployment.
