What the Advanced Malware Protection (AMP) service covers

And FortiGate Cloud Sandbox detonates suspicious or unknown files in an isolated environment, returning a verdict the firewall can act on within seconds. The result is protection against known, unknown, and zero-day malware rather than only the samples already in a signature list.

Who runs this on a FortiGate 800D

Every 800D that passes user or server traffic is a candidate, but AMP earns its place fastest where file downloads, email attachments, and web content flow through the appliance. If your firewall runs IPS but not sandboxing, unknown malware is your blind spot, and that is exactly what the Cloud Sandbox piece removes. The FortiGate 800D and 900D reached their end-of-order milestone in April 2023, but Fortinet keeps service coverage available until the Last Service Extension Date of April 16, 2027, with support running through April 16, 2028, so renewing malware defence on a working 800D remains fully supported.

Activation and electronic delivery

This is an electronic subscription, so there is no hardware to ship.
