What FortiCare Premium covers

FortiCare Premium is Fortinet’s mid-tier support contract. For the FortiGate 80F-POE, it provides: a 1-hour critical-issue response SLA from Fortinet TAC, direct telephone access to a support engineer, advanced hardware replacement (a replacement unit ships before the failed appliance is returned), Priority RMA add-on eligibility, access to all firmware and software releases, and the Fortinet online support portal and asset management tools.

Who uses the 1-year term

Teams with annual IT budgets that renew line by line each fiscal year. Also common for sites that received the firewall through a hardware bundle and whose initial FortiCare is expiring — rather than committing to a 3 or 5-year contract upfront, the 1-year term lets you reassess coverage needs at each renewal. MSPs managing client devices on a year-to-year service contract also purchase this term to match their billing cycles.

Activation and delivery

The contract is electronic and delivered by email within 0 to 1 business days after payment, to any country. You register the code in the Fortinet support portal under the serial number of your FortiGate 80F-POE. If FortiCare coverage on the device has already lapsed, the new contract activates from the registration date. If an active contract is still running, Fortinet stacks the new term to start at the end of the existing one.

FortiCare Premium versus the full security bundle

FortiCare Premium is a support-only contract — it covers TAC response, hardware replacement, and firmware access. If the 80F-POE also needs FortiGuard threat services, the FG-80F-POE-BDL-950 (UTP) and FG-80F-POE-BDL-809 (Enterprise) hardware bundles include hardware, FortiCare, and all FortiGuard subscriptions in one SKU. What is advanced hardware replacement versus return-and-replace?

Under return-and-replace (Essential tier), you ship the failed unit to Fortinet first, and a replacement is sent after it is received and assessed. Under advanced replacement (Premium and Elite), Fortinet ships the replacement before you return the faulty unit, significantly reducing how long the site runs without the firewall.

Can I stack multiple 1-year contracts back-to-back?

Yes. You can purchase a new 1-year contract before the current one expires, and Fortinet stacks it to activate at the end of the existing term. There is no limit to how many times you can renew annually, though the 3-year and 5-year terms save both money and renewal overhead over time.

Is this contract valid in all countries?
