What this subscription covers

The 595 license bundles three components into one annual subscription:

• FortiSASE cloud management: the FortiWiFi 80F-2R registers to the FortiSASE management portal and shares policy visibility with the rest of your SASE account.
• Data transfer (bandwidth) entitlement: a cloud bandwidth allocation for traffic that flows through the FortiSASE PoP network on behalf of this device.
• Cloud security subscription: FortiGuard-powered threat inspection at the SASE PoP complements inline security running on the appliance, covering SSL inspection, AV, IPS, web and DNS filtering, and botnet C&C filtering at minimum.

Because FortiOS runs on both the appliance and the SASE platform, policy management, logging, and security profiles stay consistent across the local device and the cloud layer without a separate management console for each.

Who needs this license

This SKU is for organizations that already hold a FortiSASE user subscription and need to onboard a FortiWiFi 80F-2R as a branch thin-edge device. Typical scenarios:

• A small branch where the FortiWiFi 80F-2R is the sole edge device and needs to participate in a company-wide SASE rollout.
• Retail or multi-site deployments where each location runs a FortiWiFi 80F-2R and centralized cloud management is preferred over per-box policy work.
• Organizations moving from an on-premises security posture to a hybrid model that offloads some inspection to SASE PoPs.

A FortiSASE user subscription (FC2-10-EMS05 series or equivalent) must already exist. This per-device license registers the appliance to that tenant. It does not create a standalone FortiSASE account on its own.

Activation and electronic delivery

FC-10-W080F-595-02-12 is a pure software license with no hardware shipment. The contract key is emailed within 0 to 1 business days after payment. Activation is done through the Fortinet Support Portal (support.fortinet.com) by attaching the contract to the FortiWiFi 80F-2R serial number, then enrolling the device in the FortiSASE portal.

Coverage begins from the activation date. Fortinet recommends activating promptly to avoid any gap in SASE coverage for the branch location.

FortiSASE versus the appliance security bundles

The UTP and Enterprise Protection bundles for the FortiWiFi 80F-2R cover inline security running directly on the hardware: IPS, web filtering, antivirus, application control, and anti-spam. Those services inspect traffic as it passes through the physical device.

FortiSASE (595) operates at a different layer. It connects the appliance to Fortinet’s cloud security PoPs and applies inspection to traffic routed through the SASE network, rather than solely through the appliance CPU. If you need coverage at both layers, both license types can run simultaneously on the same device.

For cloud management of the FortiWiFi 80F-2R without the full SASE infrastructure, FortiGate Cloud (FC-10-W080F-131-02-12) is a lighter option providing management, logging, and monitoring without SASE PoP routing.
