Product description

For sites evaluating OT security before committing to a multi-year term, or environments refreshing licenses annually, the FC-10-F51GP-159-02-12 gives the FortiGate 51G-SFP-PoE a full year of FortiGuard OT Security. The subscription turns the appliance into an OT-aware firewall that can identify industrial devices, track known vulnerabilities against them, and enforce protocol-level policies, without additional hardware.

What This Subscription Activates

FC-10-F51GP-159-02-12 enables three OT-specific features on the FG-51G-SFP-PoE:

  • OT Device Detection — signature-based identification of PLCs, RTUs, HMIs, and field devices on the OT segment, updated continuously by FortiGuard’s global threat intelligence.
  • OT Vulnerability Correlation & Virtual Patching — detected devices are cross-referenced against the FortiGuard vulnerability database, and virtual patches are deployed as IPS rules at the FortiGate level to block known exploit attempts.
  • OT Application Control & IPS Signatures — protocol-specific rules for Modbus, DNP3, EtherNet/IP, IEC 61850, and other industrial standards, enabling fine-grained access control and anomaly detection on OT traffic.

Who Buys a 1-Year Term

A 1-year subscription suits three situations: new deployments where you want to validate OT Security’s value before a longer commitment, sites with annual IT budgets that prefer 12-month license cycles, and co-terming scenarios where you need to align a new OT Security contract with existing FortiGuard subscriptions expiring within the year. For longer operational stability, consider the 3-year (FC-10-F51GP-159-02-36) or 5-year (FC-10-F51GP-159-02-60) term.

Activation and Delivery

FC-10-F51GP-159-02-12 is delivered electronically. DataCenter360.ca sends the license key within 0-1 business days. Register in FortiCare at support.fortinet.com to bind the subscription to your device’s serial number. OT Security features appear immediately in FortiOS under Application Control and IPS profiles once the contract is active.

Standalone OT Security vs the Enterprise Bundle

OT Security does not appear in the UTP (FC-10-F51GP-950-02-12) or ATP bundles. It is available only as a standalone add-on or as part of the Enterprise Bundle (FC-10-F51GP-809-02-12). If you need comprehensive FortiGuard coverage across IPS, AMP, URL filtering, anti-spam, and DLP in addition to OT capabilities, the Enterprise Bundle delivers all of it under a single subscription. The standalone OT subscription makes sense when you already have other FortiGuard services covered and need to add OT intelligence specifically.

Buying from DataCenter360.ca

DataCenter360.ca stocks this subscription as an authorized Fortinet Select Partner. The license ships electronically with no minimums and no shipping cost, available to customers worldwide. Need to align the term with a current FortiCare contract? Request a co-term quote before ordering and we will set up the correct expiry date.

Does the FG-51G-SFP-PoE support OT Security features in FortiOS 7.6?

Yes. FortiGuard OT Security is supported on FortiOS 7.x releases, including 7.6. Fortinet recommends keeping firmware current to receive the latest OT device signatures and virtual patching definitions. Check the FortiOS release notes for any feature-specific version requirements.

What is the difference between OT Device Detection and standard IoT detection?

Standard IoT detection identifies consumer and enterprise network devices. OT Device Detection adds signatures specifically for industrial hardware: PLCs, RTUs, HMIs, industrial switches, and field devices using industrial protocols. The two features are complementary; OT Device Detection extends coverage to the operational technology layer that standard IoT signatures don’t address.

Can I add OT Security to an existing FortiGate 51G-SFP-PoE mid-cycle?

Yes. OT Security can be added to an existing FortiGate at any time. If you already have a FortiCare contract and want to co-term the new OT Security subscription to match the FortiCare expiry, DataCenter360.ca can provide a co-term quote so all contracts renew together.

Is video filtering included with FortiGuard OT Security?

No. Video filtering is part of the URL, DNS & Video Filtering service (FC-10-F51GP-112-02-12) and requires its own subscription. OT Security covers industrial protocol and device features only. Note that video filtering is not available on the 50G/51G series in any FortiOS build.

How quickly does the subscription activate after I register the key?

Activation is immediate after successful registration in FortiCare. The FortiGate polls the FortiGuard network and the OT Security subscription status updates within minutes. You can confirm it is active in the FortiGuard dashboard and start enabling OT profiles in your security policies right away.
