Every FortiGate 7030E deployment starts with this part. The FG-7030E is the bare 6 RU chassis for Fortinet’s entry point into the 7000E series: three module slots on an 80 Gbps fabric backplane, delivered with one system management module (SMM), three fan modules and three AC power supplies already installed. The firewalling itself comes from the FIM interface module and FPM processing modules you add to it, so the chassis is also what you buy when replacing damaged sheet metal or building a cold-standby unit.

The 7030E is the smallest FortiGate 7000E chassis, aimed at data centres and service providers that want chassis-grade modularity and redundancy without the footprint of the larger units. With a single FIM slot it suits deployments where one interface module feeds two processing modules. As a spare, it covers chassis-level failures (backplane, midplane, enclosure) that module swaps cannot fix.

Compatibility

Accepts FortiGate 7000E-series FIM and FPM modules: one FIM in slot 1 and up to two FPMs in slots 3 and 4. The cooling FRU for this chassis is the FG-7040E-FAN (shared across the 7030E and 7040E), and the AC power supply FRU is the FG-7040E-PS-AC. If you need dual FIM slots or more FPM capacity, step up to the 4-slot FG-7040E chassis instead.
