Fortinet FortiGate 7040E-DC Chassis with SMM, 3x Fan Modules and 3x DC PSU (FG-7040E-DC)

Telco central offices and DC-plant data centres order their 7040E as the FG-7040E-DC. Mechanically it is the same 6 RU, 4-slot FortiGate 7040E chassis with dual FIM slots and an 80 Gbps fabric backplane, but the three factory-installed power supplies are DC units built for -48V plant feeds instead of AC line power. One system management module and three fan modules are included; FIM and FPM modules are ordered separately, exactly as with the AC chassis.

This is the order code when the rack is fed from a -48V DC power plant, which is the norm in carrier central offices and some colocation suites. Choosing the DC chassis up front means the PSU bays, cabling and redundancy scheme match the facility from day one rather than being converted later.

Compatibility

Takes the same FortiGate 7000E-series FIM and FPM modules as the AC chassis (FIMs in slots 1-2, FPMs in slots 3-4) and the same FG-7040E-FAN cooling FRU. The matching power spare is the DC unit FG-7040E-PS-DC, not the AC FRU. For AC facilities, order the standard FG-7040E instead.
