Passive DAC is the go-to for top-of-rack 10GbE: FortiGate-to-FortiSwitch uplinks or stacking links where both devices sit in the same or an adjacent rack. At 1m it suits same-rack connections. Because the cable is passive twinax with the optics built in, there is nothing to plug in separately and almost no power or heat added.
