OVERVIEW

What the FortiGate 1200D is for

The FortiGate 1200D is an end-of-life 2U data-center next-generation firewall from Fortinet's 1000-series D-generation. Built on multiple NP6 network processors and a CP8 content processor, it delivers 72 Gbps firewall throughput, 6 Gbps NGFW, 4 Gbps threat protection and 11,000,000 concurrent sessions over a high-density mix of 4x 10 GE SFP+, 16x GE SFP and 16x GE RJ45 interfaces. The 1200D reached end of life, so the hardware is no longer sold; you can still renew its FortiGuard security services and FortiCare support to keep an installed unit protected, using the renewal bundles below.

When you are ready to replace it, the currently-shipping FortiGate 1800F is the direct successor in the same data-center class — roughly 2.7x the firewall throughput and nearly 4x the threat protection of the 1200D — and the FortiGate 900G is the current G-generation option with the highest threat-protection performance in this range. No. The FortiGate 1200D (FG-1200D) has reached end of life and the hardware is no longer sold. You can still renew FortiGuard security services and FortiCare support for an installed unit, and we can quote the current FortiGate 1800F or 900G as a replacement.

The FortiGate 1800F is the direct, currently-shipping replacement in the same 2U data-center class — about 198 Gbps firewall throughput and 15 Gbps of threat protection, roughly 2.7x and nearly 4x the FortiGate 1200D. The FortiGate 900G is the current G-generation option with the highest threat protection in this range.

Yes, while the model is in its renewal window. Choose a FortiGuard + FortiCare renewal bundle (Enterprise, UTP or ATP) above, add FortiCare support, or FortiGate Cloud management. Licensing is delivered electronically worldwide.

The FortiGate 1200D delivers 72 Gbps firewall throughput, 6.8 Gbps IPS, 6 Gbps NGFW, 4 Gbps threat protection and 48 Gbps IPsec VPN, with 11,000,000 concurrent sessions and 290,000 new sessions per second, accelerated by Fortinet’s NP6 and CP8 security processors. It is a 2U appliance with 4x 10 GE SFP+, 16x GE SFP and 16x GE RJ45 interfaces and a 240 GB SSD.

The 1200D has 4x 10 GE SFP+ slots, 16x GE SFP slots and 16x GE RJ45 ports. Use Fortinet FN-TRAN-SFP+SR / SFP+LR modules for 10 GE fiber, and FN-TRAN-SX / LX / GC for 1 GE fiber or copper. No transceivers are included in the box.
