Product description

Running 198 Gbps of firewall throughput through a single 2RU chassis, the FortiGate 1000F sits at the high-performance end of the enterprise campus and data-center-edge market. It pairs Fortinet’s NP7 network processor and CP9 content processor to accelerate firewall, IPS, IPsec VPN, and SSL inspection all in hardware — without leaning on the CPU for packet forwarding. This is the hardware-only SKU (FG-1000F); no license is included.

What Ships in the Box

The FG-1000F arrives as a 2RU appliance with dual hot-swappable AC power supplies and two SFP SX transceivers pre-installed. Rack rails are sold separately. No FortiGuard or FortiCare subscription is bundled; you select the license tier that fits your threat model at checkout or through a separate purchase order.

Where the FortiGate 1000F Excels

Three deployment types drive most FG-1000F orders: large enterprise campus perimeters, data-center edge, and service-provider aggregation points where high-density 10GE/25GE connectivity and wire-rate throughput are both required. Its 2 x 100GE QSFP28 uplinks plus 8 x 25GE SFP28 and 16 x 10GE SFP+ slots build a compact, high-speed aggregation layer without external line cards.

  • NP7 accelerates VXLAN segmentation, GRE tunnels, and hyperscale firewall policies in hardware
  • 7.5 million concurrent sessions supports dense endpoint populations without session-table pressure
  • 19 Gbps IPS and 13 Gbps threat-protection throughput remain available with FortiGuard services active
  • 55 Gbps IPsec VPN suits large branch aggregation and direct multi-cloud connectivity
  • ZTNA enforcement built into FortiOS controls application access without a separate proxy appliance
  • Fabric-managed deployment can reach up to 4,096 FortiAPs and 196 FortiSwitches from a single FortiGate

Hardware Only vs. a Bundle

The FG-1000F ships with no subscription attached. This works well when you have an existing FortiGuard contract to transfer, when hardware and licenses are procured on separate purchase orders, or when a partner manages the license side. If protection needs to be active immediately, the 1-, 3-, or 5-year UTP or Enterprise bundle combines the appliance with FortiGuard services and FortiCare Premium support in a single line item — usually the lower-friction path for greenfield deployments.

Who Deploys the FortiGate 1000F

Typical buyers include large enterprise IT teams running 10-100 Gbps of inspected throughput, managed security service providers building multi-tenant shared infrastructure, higher-education campuses with dense wired and wireless populations, and organizations in regulated industries (finance, government, healthcare) that require NGFW plus ZTNA in a validated, single-vendor platform. The 250-VDOM ceiling also makes it a practical choice wherever logical tenant separation per department or customer is needed in one physical box.

Moving Up: the FG-1001F and Beyond

If local log storage or packet capture matters, the FG-1001F is the natural next step: same chassis, same ports, same ASICs, with two 480 GB SSDs added. Both models accept identical subscription SKUs. For throughput requirements that exceed the 1000F series, the FortiGate 1800F series targets data-center core and spine-layer deployments with higher aggregate bandwidth.

Buying from DataCenter360.ca

DataCenter360.ca is an authorized Fortinet Select Partner shipping to enterprise and government customers across Canada. Every FG-1000F order leaves as brand-new, original-packaging hardware from Canadian inventory, with free shipping that typically arrives in 0-1 business days. Hardware is Canada-only; FortiGuard and FortiCare licenses can be ordered and activated from anywhere. For volume pricing or to discuss the right licensing tier, use the quote form on this page.

Does the FG-1000F include a FortiGuard license?
No. The FG-1000F is hardware only; no FortiGuard or FortiCare subscription is included. You can add a 1-, 3-, or 5-year UTP or Enterprise subscription at checkout, or purchase a hardware-only unit if you plan to attach an existing or separately sourced license.

What is the difference between the FG-1000F and the FG-1001F?
The FG-1001F adds two 480 GB SSDs for local log storage and traffic capture. All port counts, ASIC types, and performance specs are identical between the two models. Both accept the same FortiGuard subscription and FortiCare service SKUs.

Does DataCenter360.ca ship the FG-1000F outside Canada?
Hardware ships to Canadian addresses only. DataCenter360.ca is authorized to sell Fortinet appliances within Canada. FortiGuard subscriptions and FortiCare support licenses are electronic delivery and can be purchased and activated in any country.

Which processors power the FortiGate 1000F?
The FG-1000F uses Fortinet’s NP7 network processor and CP9 content processor. NP7 handles high-speed forwarding, VXLAN, and IPsec acceleration in dedicated silicon; CP9 offloads SSL/TLS inspection and content-based services such as IPS and AV, keeping the main CPU available for policy management and control-plane functions.

What FortiGuard subscription tiers are available for the FG-1000F?
Three tiers are available: ATP (Advanced Threat Protection), UTP (Unified Threat Protection, which adds URL, DNS, and video filtering to ATP), and Enterprise (which adds anti-spam, DLP, CASB, inline malware prevention, and attack-surface security to UTP). All three tiers include FortiCare Premium support with 24×7 coverage and 1-hour critical-issue response. Individual FortiCare support and RMA services are also sold as stand-alone add-ons for this hardware-only SKU.
