The FG-61F-LENC answers two specific needs at once: onboard storage and export-compliant encryption. It carries the 128 GB SSD of the standard FortiGate 61F for local logs and reporting, but ships in the low-encryption configuration required where high-grade VPN cryptography cannot be imported. Firewall, IPS, and application-control performance match the regular 61F. This is the hardware on its own, licensing sold separately.
First, the SSD: 128 GB of onboard storage for local logging and on-box reporting, the same disk that separates the 61F from the 60F. Second, the LENC build: a factory hardware configuration with VPN bulk encryption restricted so the appliance can be supplied under encryption-export rules. Everything else, ports, FortiOS, SD-WAN, threat inspection, behaves like a standard 61F.

Specs follow the FortiGate 61F datasheet. The VPN-encryption line is the one functional change from the standard 61F.
This variant is selected for compliance, not performance: organizations deploying into jurisdictions that restrict strong cryptography, or buyers whose policy requires low-encryption hardware, that also want the 61F’s onboard logging. If neither the encryption restriction nor the SSD is a requirement, a standard 60F or 61F will usually serve better.
Sold here as hardware only. FortiGuard subscriptions use the same FC-10-0061F catalogue as the standard 61F and are linked above; add the 1-year UTP or Enterprise term to turn on full next-generation protection. Buying the appliance by itself suits sites with existing entitlements or central licensing.
There is no 81F low-encryption SKU, so for more capacity in a low-encryption build the FG-80F-LENC is the next step, without the onboard SSD. If the encryption restriction is not actually required, the standard FG-61F adds full VPN crypto alongside the same storage.
Because it combines two specialty traits, this is a SKU worth confirming before you buy. DataCenter360.ca supplies the FG-61F-LENC brand new with free shipping across Canada, and as a Fortinet Select Partner we will verify that the low-encryption build matches your compliance requirement before the unit ships.
