Product description

The FortiWiFi 50G is already a capable Wi-Fi 6 NGFW for branch deployments; the Enterprise bundle takes it further. The FWF-50G-A-BDL-809-12 adds a year of Fortinet’s broadest FortiGuard subscription on top of the integrated wireless hardware, covering not only IPS and web filtering but also Data Leak Prevention, OT/ICS signatures, Security Rating, and FortiConverter. For branch offices in regulated industries or companies migrating away from legacy firewalls, the combination of integrated Wi-Fi 6 and the full Enterprise stack in a single desktop unit is worth evaluating carefully against a split hardware approach.

What the Bundle Includes

This SKU ships the FortiWiFi 50G hardware with a 1-year Enterprise Protection subscription activated. Enterprise activates every FortiGuard service on the platform: IPS, Anti-Malware, Inline Sandbox (FortiSandbox Cloud), Web/DNS/Video Filtering, Application Control, Anti-spam, FortiCare Premium 24×7 TAC, DLP, FortiConverter, Security Rating, and OT/ICS Signatures. The integrated Wi-Fi 6 dual-band radio is managed through FortiOS with no additional controller hardware required.

What the Enterprise Bundle Covers

Enterprise (code 809) is Fortinet’s highest-tier bundle. It includes everything in UTP and adds Data Leak Prevention (DLP), OT/ICS-specific threat signatures, Security Rating for compliance scoring, and FortiConverter for automated firewall migration. For organizations moving wireless branch offices from a competing platform, the FortiConverter service alone can reduce migration time substantially by automating rule conversion from legacy policy formats.

Who It Suits

The FWF-50G-A-BDL-809-12 is well-matched to branch offices in regulated industries where policy requires DLP monitoring or where the security team wants the highest-tier protection without separate hardware for wireless. Healthcare clinics, legal offices, accounting firms, and financial services branches are common use cases: they handle sensitive data on both wired workstations and mobile devices, and having DLP enforce data transfer rules across wired and wireless sessions in the same policy simplifies compliance documentation. Organizations running legacy firewalls alongside aging wireless infrastructure can use the FortiConverter license to automate the rule migration while also consolidating onto a single platform.

Other Terms and Models

The FWF-50G-A-BDL-809-12 covers one year of Enterprise FortiGuard coverage. Three-year and 5-year options are FWF-50G-A-BDL-809-36 and FWF-50G-A-BDL-809-60. If Enterprise coverage is more than you need, the UTP equivalent starts at FWF-50G-A-BDL-950-12. For more session capacity and higher wireless client density, the next model up is the FWF-70G-A-BDL-809-12.

What does Enterprise add over UTP for a wireless branch deployment?
Compared to UTP, the Enterprise tier adds Data Leak Prevention (DLP), which monitors and blocks sensitive data exfiltration on both wired and wireless sessions passing through FortiOS. It also adds OT/ICS Signatures for environments with industrial devices on the LAN, Security Rating for continuous compliance benchmarking, and FortiConverter for automating firewall policy migration from legacy platforms. For a typical office environment, DLP and Security Rating are the most impactful additions.
Does DLP policy apply to wireless clients?
Yes. Because Wi-Fi is integrated into FortiOS, all wireless client traffic passes through the same security engine as wired traffic. DLP rules defined in FortiOS apply uniformly to sessions from wireless clients, including file transfers, email attachments sent through web interfaces, and HTTP/HTTPS data. This eliminates the gap that sometimes exists when wireless traffic bypasses the firewall inspection path entirely.
How does the FortiConverter service help with migration?
FortiConverter is a Fortinet service that automates the conversion of firewall policies from third-party platforms including Cisco ASA, Check Point, Palo Alto Networks, Juniper SRX, and others to FortiOS format. It parses the existing configuration, maps rules to the FortiOS policy structure, flags conflicts or unsupported constructs, and produces an importable configuration file. The result is a faster cutover with fewer manually rebuilt rules and less risk of missing a critical access policy during the migration.
Can the FWF-50G-A manage external FortiAPs as well as the built-in radio?
Yes. The FortiWiFi 50G can manage up to 16 external FortiAPs (8 in tunnel mode) through its built-in wireless controller, while the integrated radio serves the local area independently. This lets you start with just the built-in radio for a single-room deployment and add external FortiAPs later as coverage requirements grow, all managed from the same FortiOS interface without a separate wireless controller appliance.
Is FortiCloud included in the Enterprise bundle?
FortiCloud (FC-10-FW50G-131) is available as a separate add-on license and is not included in the FWF-50G-A-BDL-809-12 bundle itself. It provides cloud-hosted management, log storage, and reporting for the FortiWiFi 50G without requiring a FortiManager or FortiAnalyzer on-premises. DataCenter360.ca carries the FortiCloud license as a cross-sell alongside this bundle if centralized cloud management is part of your deployment plan.
