What this service covers

FortiGuard OT Security is an à la carte subscription, not bundled into UTP, ATP, or Enterprise. On a FortiGate 1001F it activates:

• OT device detection: an up-to-date signature package that identifies industrial devices on the network and reports their metadata, giving visibility into PLCs, RTUs, HMIs, and other OT assets the firewall can see.
• OT vulnerability correlation and virtual patching: maps known vulnerabilities to detected OT devices and applies targeted virtual patches on the FortiGate, mitigating exploit attempts without waiting on a device-level firmware update.
• OT application control and IPS: extra signatures for industrial protocols and applications, letting policy enforce which OT traffic is allowed instead of relying on generic IT signatures.

Who needs it

Utilities, manufacturers, and critical-infrastructure operators are the typical buyers. A site with no OT segment behind the 1001F has no reason to add this service.

Activation and delivery

The license is issued electronically and registered to a specific FortiGate 1001F by serial number. FortiGuard OT device signatures, vulnerability correlation data, and industrial-protocol IPS updates push to the unit for the full 5-year term once activated. Nothing physical ships, and a licensed FortiGate 1001F must already be in place before the subscription can be applied.

One service vs. the bundle

OT Security is sold à la carte only. It is not included in the UTP, ATP, or Enterprise subscription bundles for the FortiGate 1001F, so adding it does not overlap with what a bundle already provides.
