What this service covers

Three capabilities activate on the FortiGate 2000E for the full term:

• OT Vulnerability Correlation and Virtual Patching: maps known vulnerabilities against detected OT devices and lets the FortiGate apply targeted virtual patches through NAC policy, shielding equipment that cannot be patched or rebooted on a normal cycle.
• OT Application Control and IPS: adds signatures written for industrial protocols and applications, extending Application Control and IPS profiles to traffic that generic profiles do not classify correctly.

Who needs the standalone service

This license fits a FortiGate 2000E deployed at an OT/IT boundary, a manufacturing floor, a utility substation, or any segment where industrial equipment shares the network with conventional IT traffic. It assumes the appliance already carries FortiCare support and, typically, an existing FortiGuard security subscription for its general-purpose IT traffic; OT Security layers industrial visibility and protection on top rather than replacing that coverage.

OT Security vs. the FortiGuard bundles

Fortinet does not fold OT Security into the ATP, UTP, or Enterprise bundles for the FortiGate 2000E. Each of those bundles covers network, file, web, and data-layer protection at increasing depth, but none of them include OT device detection, OT vulnerability correlation, or OT application signatures. A FortiGate 2000E running the Enterprise bundle still needs this SKU added separately to gain industrial visibility. Conversely, if the 2000E has no FortiGuard coverage at all yet, pairing this OT license with the UTP subscription (FC-10-002KE-950-02-12) or Enterprise subscription (FC-10-002KE-809-02-12) covers both the general IT attack surface and the OT-specific layer.

Activation and delivery

The license is issued electronically and registered to a specific FortiGate 2000E by serial number. There is no physical shipment; once applied, OT device signatures, vulnerability correlation data, and application control updates push to the appliance for the 12-month term. A valid, licensed FortiGate 2000E is required before activation.
