What this service covers

Three OT-specific capabilities activate on the FortiGate 2600F for the term:

• OT Device Detection: an up-to-date signature package that identifies industrial control system devices, PLCs, RTUs, HMIs, and other OT assets on the network, and supplies metadata FortiOS uses for policy and visibility.
• OT Vulnerability Correlation and Virtual Patching: matches detected OT devices against known vulnerabilities and lets the FortiGate 2600F apply targeted virtual patches, shielding equipment that often cannot be patched or rebooted on a normal IT cycle.
• OT Application Control and IPS: extends Application Control and IPS with signatures written for industrial protocols and applications (Modbus, DNP3, and similar), covering traffic patterns standard IT-focused signatures don’t recognize.

Fortinet updates the OT signature and vulnerability databases on an ongoing basis as new industrial device types and exploits are catalogued.

Who needs standalone OT security

This license fits a FortiGate 2600F sitting at the IT/OT boundary or inside a plant network segment, protecting SCADA systems, manufacturing lines, utilities infrastructure, or building automation. It’s an à la carte add-on: order it on top of whatever FortiCare and FortiGuard coverage the 2600F already carries when OT visibility is the specific gap. Pure office/IT deployments with no industrial assets in scope don’t need it.

OT Security vs. the FortiGuard bundles

OT Security is not bundled into the standard ATP, UTP, or Enterprise packages for the FortiGate 2600F; Fortinet sells it exclusively à la carte. Enterprise-bundle customers who need OT coverage still add this service separately. If the 2600F doesn’t yet carry FortiCare or the core FortiGuard security stack, pairing this license with an Enterprise subscription (FC-10-F26HF-809-02-60) covers both the IT attack surface and the OT layer for the same five-year term.

Activation and delivery

The license activates electronically and registers to a specific FortiGate 2600F by serial number. Once applied, OT device signatures, vulnerability correlation data, and industrial IPS/Application Control updates push to the appliance for the full five-year term.
