Product description

Running the FortiGate 71G-PoE as your branch firewall and PoE switch consolidation point means the appliance is handling both endpoint connectivity and security inspection in one box. The FC-10-G71GP-950-02-12 keeps FortiGuard’s UTP services active on that hardware for a full year, giving you IPS, malware prevention, application-layer visibility, URL and DNS filtering, antispam, and 24×7 FortiCare Premium support. For branch offices where broad threat coverage matters more than advanced compliance services, UTP is the most common choice.

What UTP Turns On

The Unified Threat Protection bundle (service code 950) covers the core FortiGuard threat prevention services. It includes everything in ATP, then adds URL/DNS/video filtering and antispam to cover web-based and email-based attack vectors that ATP alone leaves open.

FortiCare Premium Support

Who Uses This Subscription

The FG-71G-PoE UTP subscription is a practical fit for small to mid-size branch offices, retail locations, and distributed sites where the firewall also consolidates PoE access for IP cameras, VoIP phones, or wireless access points. The FortiSP5 processor in the FG-71G-PoE delivers 2.5 Gbps of IPS throughput, so the subscription’s full capabilities run without creating a bottleneck. Organizations that want solid threat prevention but have not yet reached a compliance requirement for DLP or CASB will typically start here before considering the Enterprise tier.

Activation and Delivery

DataCenter360.ca delivers the license registration key electronically after order confirmation, typically within one business day. Activation requires logging into the FortiCare portal, entering the contract number against your FG-71G-PoE’s serial number, and refreshing FortiGuard services on the appliance. FortiCare Premium included in UTP covers 24×7 TAC and firmware updates for the full subscription term. No hardware is shipped with this order.

Terms and Renewal

This listing covers the one-year term. If cost certainty over a longer planning horizon matters, three-year and five-year options for the same bundle are listed separately. Fortinet’s renewal process allows purchasing a new contract before expiry; the new term starts at the end of the current one. If your FG-71G-PoE came with a hardware bundle subscription, check the expiry date in FortiCare before ordering a standalone renewal to avoid overlap.

What is the difference between UTP and ATP for the FG-71G-PoE?
ATP covers IPS, advanced malware protection, application control, and FortiCare Premium. UTP adds URL/DNS/video filtering and antispam service on top of that. If your branch needs web content filtering and email protection in addition to core threat prevention, UTP is the appropriate tier.
Does the FG-71G-PoE need a different license SKU than the non-PoE FG-71G?
Yes. The FG-71G-PoE uses the G71GP license prefix (FC-10-G71GP-…), while the base FG-71G uses GT71G (FC-10-GT71G-…). Make sure your appliance’s serial number indicates the PoE model before registering this subscription.
Can UTP be upgraded to Enterprise without replacing the appliance?
Yes. The FortiGate 71G-PoE hardware supports all three subscription tiers. Upgrading to Enterprise requires purchasing an Enterprise subscription for the remaining or next term; the hardware does not need to change.
Does an active UTP subscription affect PoE port behavior?
No. PoE power delivery to connected devices operates independently of the FortiGuard subscription status. However, without an active subscription, FortiGuard threat signatures stop updating, which reduces the effectiveness of IPS and malware scanning on traffic passing through those ports.
How soon after ordering do I receive the license details?
DataCenter360.ca delivers registration details electronically, typically within one business day of order confirmation. Activation in FortiCare takes only a few minutes once you have the contract number and the appliance serial number available.
