A lot of small-branch and remote-office deployments still run the FortiGate 80E-POE for good reason: built-in PoE ports let the appliance power IP phones, wireless access points, and cameras directly, reducing hardware footprint at the edge. Keeping the 1-Year FortiCare Premium service (FC-10-0080E-247-02-12) active means that if the unit fails or a firmware issue surfaces, there is a Fortinet engineer available at any hour and a replacement appliance on its way before the defective one has to be returned.
FC-10-0080E-247-02-12 is a support and maintenance subscription that attaches to the FortiGate 80E-POE appliance by serial number. It does not add FortiGuard security intelligence feeds; those are licensed separately. FortiCare Premium covers:
This is the Premium support tier. Here is how it compares to the other FortiCare levels:
| Feature | Essential | Premium | Elite |
|---|---|---|---|
| Critical-issue initial response | Business hours | 24/7 | 24/7, ≤1 hr |
| Telephone & email support | — | ✓ | ✓ |
| Advance hardware replacement | — | ✓ | ✓ |

| Firmware updates, tools & FortiCare portal | ✓ | ✓ | ✓ |
| Extended LTS support & Elite monitoring portal | — | — | ✓ |
The FortiGate 80E-POE shows up most often at smaller branch offices, retail sites, and remote locations that need a secure edge router with the convenience of PoE-powered devices. Organizations that keep these appliances running beyond the initial warranty period benefit from FortiCare Premium when: the site cannot absorb more than a few hours of downtime, the IT team or MSP managing the device needs round-the-clock escalation access, or the hardware is beyond its initial warranty and a simple break-fix path is no longer adequate. FortiCare Premium provides the safety net.
The license is delivered electronically. After payment, DataCenter360.ca generates the activation through the official Fortinet partner portal and sends the credentials to your email address, typically same business day. There is nothing to install or ship physically. The license registers to the FortiGate 80E-POE’s serial number through FortiCare or FortiCloud. Renewing before the current service end date extends coverage from that date rather than the activation date, so no coverage days are lost.
FortiCare Premium alone does not activate FortiGuard security feeds. If the FortiGate 80E-POE is running basic firewall or VPN functionality without active FortiGuard services, and the primary need is reliable 24/7 support and hardware replacement coverage, then this standalone FortiCare Premium subscription is the right purchase. If the goal is also to activate IPS, antivirus, web filtering, and other FortiGuard protections, a UTP or Enterprise subscription bundle for the 80E-POE includes FortiCare Essential alongside the security services in one SKU. FortiCare Essential (included in bundles) covers business-hours support with return-to-depot RMA; Premium adds 24/7 access and advance replacement.
DataCenter360.ca processes Fortinet support renewals for customers across Canada and internationally, including organizations still running E-series FortiGate appliances. If the 80E-POE’s FortiCare contract has lapsed, DataCenter360.ca can check whether a back-in-service reinstatement is possible through the Fortinet partner channel. All licenses are fulfilled through the Fortinet partner portal and delivered by email, so there is no wait for a physical shipment regardless of where in the world the renewal is needed.
