Activation and delivery

Activation is done through the FortiCare portal, and the FortiGate 81E-POE connects to FortiCloud automatically using its registered serial number. No agent software is required on the device beyond the standard FortiOS build. Log data starts flowing to the cloud portal once the connection is confirmed.

Cloud management vs. a full subscription bundle

FortiGate Cloud handles management and visibility. It does not replace FortiGuard threat intelligence (IPS, AV, URL filtering) or FortiCare device support, which come with the UTP or Enterprise bundles.
