Product description

Antivirus catches known file threats; cloud sandboxing catches the ones that aren’t yet in any signature database. The FortiWiFi 70G-PoE Advanced Malware Protection service (FC-10-FW70P-100-02-12) combines both: local antivirus scanning for high-velocity known threats, mobile malware detection for devices joining the WiFi network, and FortiGate Cloud Sandbox submission for unknown files. The subscription runs for one year and is renewed electronically.

What Advanced Malware Protection Includes

AMP on the FortiWiFi 70G-PoE combines three detection layers:

  • Antivirus: Signature-based scanning for known malware in transit — executables, documents, archives, and scripts passing through the gateway.
  • Mobile Malware: Signatures specific to Android and iOS malware, applied to traffic from mobile devices on the WiFi network.
  • FortiGate Cloud Sandbox: Unknown or suspicious files are submitted to Fortinet’s cloud environment for dynamic behavioral analysis. Files not matching any known signature are detonated in an isolated sandbox to detect evasive and zero-day threats before they reach endpoints.

Who Needs AMP on the FortiWiFi 70G-PoE

Advanced Malware Protection addresses gaps in signature-based detection: zero-day malware samples, custom droppers, and obfuscated scripts that aren’t yet in FortiGuard’s antivirus database. It’s most valuable for deployments where filesharing or file upload activity is common — file servers, HR portals, shared drives accessible over WiFi, or any workflow where external files enter the network regularly. Industries with elevated threat profiles (legal, finance, healthcare) benefit most from the added sandbox layer.

Activation & Delivery

This is a software subscription — no hardware ships. After order confirmation, the license key arrives by email within 0–1 business days. Register it at support.fortinet.com or apply it directly in the FortiGate license menu under System > FortiGuard. The 1-Year term begins on the date of activation.

For renewals, the new subscription stacks onto the existing expiry date if applied before expiration. DataCenter360.ca can assist with renewal timing and multi-year quotes.

This Service vs. a Bundle

Advanced Malware Protection (cloud sandbox + antivirus) is an Enterprise-tier feature. The ATP and UTP bundles include antivirus but do not include the FortiGate Cloud Sandbox component. The standalone AMP subscription activates the full service without requiring the Enterprise bundle.

Feature ATP UTP Enterprise
Antivirus & AntiBot
Intrusion Prevention
URL, DNS & Video Filtering
Application Control
AntiSpam
FortiGate Cloud Sandbox
OT Security

If you expect to add more protections later, the UTP and Enterprise subscriptions for the FortiWiFi 70G-PoE consolidate multiple services into one SKU at a lower per-service cost.

Buying from DataCenter360.ca

DataCenter360.ca is a Fortinet Select Partner and MSSP. The FortiWiFi 70G-PoE AMP subscription is in stock and licensed electronically within one business day. Note that cloud sandbox (the main AMP differentiator from basic antivirus) is an Enterprise-bundle feature — if you need the full protection stack, ask us about the Enterprise bundle pricing for the FortiWiFi 70G-PoE.

What is the difference between AMP and basic antivirus on the FortiWiFi 70G-PoE?

Basic antivirus uses signature matching against known malware — it is included in the ATP and UTP bundles. AMP adds FortiGate Cloud Sandbox, which submits unknown or suspicious files to a cloud environment for detonation and behavioral analysis. This catches zero-day and evasive threats that signature-based antivirus would miss.

Is AMP included in any bundle tier?

FortiGate Cloud Sandbox (the core AMP component) is an Enterprise-bundle feature. ATP and UTP include antivirus but not cloud sandbox. This standalone AMP subscription activates the full Advanced Malware Protection service without requiring the Enterprise bundle.

Does mobile malware detection apply to phones connecting to the FortiWiFi 70G-PoE?

Yes. The AMP subscription includes mobile malware signatures, which inspect files transferred by Android and iOS devices connecting to the wireless network. Coverage applies to HTTP/HTTPS transfers where SSL inspection is in use.

How long does sandbox analysis take per file?

FortiGate Cloud Sandbox analysis typically completes in seconds to a few minutes depending on file type and complexity. You can configure the firewall to hold files pending sandbox verdict or to allow them with monitoring, depending on your risk tolerance.

Is this license available outside Canada?

Yes. FortiGuard subscriptions are delivered electronically and carry no regional restriction. DataCenter360.ca ships license keys worldwide from our Fortinet Select Partner inventory, with activation through the FortiCare portal.
