Some FortiGate 400F-DC deployments start with FortiCare Premium and later move to Elite as the environment matures or audit requirements change. The five-year Premium-to-Elite upgrade does that in one step — extending Elite-tier coverage over the full term without interrupting the existing entitlement.

What This Upgrade Adds

FortiCare Premium already provides 24/7 support with a 1-hour critical-issue response and next-business-day hardware RMA. The Premium-to-Elite upgrade extends that baseline with:

  • Access to the Elite monitoring portal, including centralized health and compliance dashboards
  • Extended Long-Term Support (LTS) for firmware branches, giving teams longer stability windows before a forced release upgrade

All other Premium entitlements — telephone support, RMA, portal access, firmware downloads — remain active and unchanged.

Who Needs This Upgrade

This SKU is for organizations that have the FortiGate 400F-DC already covered by an active FortiCare Premium subscription and want to add Elite-tier features. Common reasons: an audit or compliance program requires Elite SLA documentation, the team wants extended LTS access to hold a validated firmware version longer, or an IT policy change mandates the top Fortinet support tier across all perimeter devices.

Do I need active FortiCare Premium on my FortiGate 400F-DC before buying this upgrade?

Each physical unit in the HA pair holds its own FortiCare entitlement, so each requires a separate upgrade SKU. For a two-unit HA pair, order two upgrade keys and apply one per device. Both units should ideally run the same FortiCare tier to avoid inconsistent support coverage across the cluster.

Is this a FortiGuard threat intelligence subscription or a support contract?

This is a support contract upgrade only — it covers hardware RMA, critical-issue response SLA, and portal access. FortiGuard threat intelligence services (IPS signatures, Web Filtering, Antivirus, etc.) are separate FortiGuard subscriptions. If the goal is full-stack coverage, pair the support tier with the appropriate FortiGuard subscription for the 400F-DC.
