What This Service Turns On

The subscription enables three capabilities in FortiOS:

• OT Device Detection: the FortiGate inspects network traffic to discover, classify, and profile OT and ICS devices, including PLCs, RTUs, HMIs, and field controllers, without requiring any agent installation on those devices.
• OT Vulnerability Correlation and Virtual Patching: once devices are identified, the firewall maps them against the FortiGuard OT vulnerability database and applies virtual patches to block known exploits against affected devices at the network perimeter.
• OT Application Control and IPS: signature packs for industrial protocols, including Modbus, EtherNet/IP, DNP3, IEC 104, and Profinet, are activated in the IPS and Application Control engines.

Who This Suits

A 1-year term is a good fit for sites that are still building their OT security program, for project-based deployments with a defined end date, or for organizations that review all subscription renewals annually.
