• Included management and bandwidth: the subscription carries its own cloud management console and the bandwidth entitlement needed to run it.

Who needs it

This subscription fits an organization whose workforce no longer sits entirely inside one office. A 51G covers the on-site users; FortiSASE covers the laptops at home, the travelling staff, and the branch users who connect from anywhere. If everyone works on-premises behind the firewall, the on-box bundles already do the job and FortiSASE is not required.

Activation and delivery

The license is issued electronically and tied to your Fortinet account and the 51G deployment. FortiSASE is provisioned in the cloud, users are onboarded into the console, and the twelve-month term runs from activation. Nothing ships.

FortiSASE vs the on-box bundles

FortiSASE secures users who are away from the appliance; it does not replace the inspection the 51G performs for on-site traffic. The UTP subscription (FC-10-GT51G-950-02-12) and the Enterprise subscription (FC-10-GT51G-809-02-12) handle the protection that runs on the device itself. Many sites pair FortiSASE for the remote workforce with one of those bundles on the firewall.
