Product description

For a DSL-connected branch where web content filtering is handled by a cloud proxy but IPS and malware scanning are not covered at the perimeter, the FC-10-W50GD-928-02-12 fills that gap. It activates the ATP bundle on the FortiWiFi 50G-DSL-A for one year: IPS, Advanced Malware Protection, Application Control, and FortiCare Premium. The FWF-50G-DSL-A’s built-in VDSL2/ADSL2+ modem and integrated Wi-Fi 6 radio make it a compact one-box branch solution, and ATP keeps the inspection engine current without adding services already addressed elsewhere in your architecture.

What the ATP Bundle Activates

The ATP subscription enables four FortiGuard services on the FWF-50G-DSL-A:

  • IPS — deep packet inspection against known CVEs and protocol anomalies on both the DSL WAN and Wi-Fi interfaces
  • Advanced Malware Protection Service — FortiGuard cloud-assisted detection for file-based threats, including zero-day variants
  • Application Control — classification and enforcement for applications across encrypted and unencrypted sessions
  • FortiCare Premium — 24×7 Fortinet technical support with next-business-day hardware replacement

What Is the ATP Bundle?

ATP (code 928) is positioned above FortiCare Essential and below UTP. It provides active threat intelligence without the web policy and mail-scanning services that UTP and Enterprise add. The table below shows where ATP fits in the full tier lineup:

Service ATP UTP Enterprise
IPS
Advanced Malware Protection
Application Control
URL / DNS / Video Filtering
Antispam Service
AI-based Inline Malware Prevention
Inline CASB Database
Data Loss Prevention (DLP)
Attack Surface Security
FortiConverter Service
FortiCare Premium

Who Buys This

IT teams that standardize on ATP across a fleet of small branch appliances are the common buyers. If outbound web filtering is handled by a cloud proxy in your architecture (Zscaler, Umbrella, or similar), you are not getting extra value from URL Filtering in UTP. ATP covers IPS and malware protection at the network edge without paying for services already addressed upstream. It is also a reasonable starting tier for branches being onboarded into a Fortinet fabric for the first time.

Activation and Delivery

DataCenter360.ca sends the registration key electronically within 0 to 1 business day. Activate through the FortiGate web UI at System, then FortiGuard, or register at support.fortinet.com and sync the license from the appliance. No physical goods ship for license orders.

Terms and Renewal

This license runs for one year. Three-year and five-year ATP terms are available for the FWF-50G-DSL-A if a longer window is preferred. Stacking a renewal before the current term expires avoids any gap in FortiGuard feeds. Renewal time is also a natural opportunity to review whether UTP or Enterprise would better fit the site’s current requirements.

Buying from DataCenter360.ca

DataCenter360.ca delivers Fortinet licenses globally as a Fortinet Select Partner. License orders process electronically and keys arrive by email within one business day. For bulk orders covering multiple FWF-50G-DSL-A units or a request to align renewal dates across sites, contact DataCenter360.ca before placing the order to coordinate the deployment.

What services does ATP activate on the FWF-50G-DSL-A?
ATP activates IPS, Advanced Malware Protection Service, Application Control, and FortiCare Premium. URL/DNS/Video Filtering and Antispam are not included; those are part of UTP and Enterprise.

Can I register this license on a device outside Canada?
Yes. FortiGuard subscriptions work globally. FC-10-W50GD-928-02-12 can be registered on any FWF-50G-DSL-A regardless of location, and DataCenter360.ca delivers the key electronically to buyers anywhere in the world.

How does ATP differ from FortiCare Essential on the FWF-50G-DSL-A?
FortiCare Essential is hardware support only: RMA, firmware updates, and basic TAC access. ATP adds live FortiGuard threat intelligence: IPS signatures, cloud malware analysis, and application definitions that update continuously. Without a FortiGuard bundle, the inspection engine relies on static signatures from the last FortiOS build.

Is ATP a good fit if the branch already uses a cloud-based web filter?
Often yes. If URL filtering is handled upstream by a cloud proxy, you are not gaining extra value from that service in UTP. ATP covers IPS and malware at the network perimeter without paying for services already addressed elsewhere in your architecture.

Can I upgrade from ATP to UTP or Enterprise mid-term?
Fortinet does not support mid-term tier upgrades directly. The standard path is to let the ATP term expire and then purchase UTP or Enterprise at renewal. You can also purchase the higher tier with a new start date and run both; the higher tier governs which FortiGuard services are active.
