Product description

The FortiWiFi 70G serves two roles at once: it is a FortiGate NGFW running IPS and malware inspection, and a Wi-Fi 6 access point controller managing the wireless network. The FC-10-FW70G-928-02-12 activates the ATP subscription, which covers the network-level and file-based threat protection services most branch environments prioritize first. If your site doesn’t yet have URL filtering or content policies in scope, ATP gets you solid coverage without paying for services you won’t use.

What ATP Turns On for the FortiWiFi 70G

Advanced Threat Protection includes three FortiGuard service categories and FortiCare support. IPS delivers signature-based detection and AI/ML-powered inspection across all traffic, with virtual patching that protects against known CVEs even before you can patch the affected systems. Advanced malware protection combines antivirus scanning with cloud sandboxing to catch both known and novel file-based threats, including zero-day malware delivered through email attachments or web downloads. Application control provides real-time visibility and policy enforcement over thousands of applications, from collaboration tools to peer-to-peer software. FortiCare Premium rounds out the subscription with 24×7 access to Fortinet’s technical support team.

What Is the ATP Bundle?

ATP is the entry tier in the FortiGuard subscription hierarchy. The table below shows where it stands relative to UTP and Enterprise:

Service ATP UTP Enterprise
IPS
Advanced Malware Protection
Application Control
URL / DNS / Video Filtering
Anti-spam
AI Inline Malware Prevention
Inline CASB Database
Data Loss Prevention (DLP)

Who Buys ATP

ATP tends to suit two types of buyers. First, organizations that are standing up a new FortiWiFi 70G and want to start with a manageable subscription before expanding — ATP is a legitimate starting point, and upgrading to UTP or Enterprise mid-cycle is straightforward. Second, deployments where the primary concern is endpoint-level and network-layer threats rather than content filtering: think server segments, network closets, or branch sites where employees don’t have unrestricted internet access and URL categorization isn’t an active policy lever. For sites where web filtering is part of your acceptable-use policy, UTP is worth the step up.

Activation and Delivery

Software-only subscription. DataCenter360.ca delivers the FortiCare registration details electronically within 0 to 1 business day of purchase. Log into the FortiCare portal, enter the contract key, and attach it to your FortiWiFi 70G serial number. FortiGuard definition updates begin immediately. No customs, no physical delivery, no delays from shipping.

Terms and Renewal

This SKU covers one year. Three-year and five-year options are available for a lower per-year rate. Renewing before your current term expires carries remaining days forward. If you upgrade from ATP to UTP or Enterprise, FortiGuard prorates the cost based on remaining contract time so you don’t lose value on an existing subscription.

Buying from DataCenter360.ca

DataCenter360.ca is a Fortinet Select Partner and MSSP. Subscriptions purchased here come from authorized channels — you receive legitimate FortiCare keys, not grey-market licenses that may not activate or may void your support entitlement. Contact us if you need a formal quote, multi-unit pricing, or advice on matching the right subscription tier to your site’s security requirements.

Does ATP on the FortiWiFi 70G protect wireless clients or only wired traffic?

Both. All traffic passing through the FortiGate firewall — whether from wired interfaces or from wireless clients associated to the integrated 802.11ax radio — flows through the same FortiOS datapath and is subject to ATP inspection. Wireless clients are not exempt from IPS, malware scanning, or application control policies.

Is URL filtering included in ATP?

No. URL/DNS/Video filtering is a UTP and Enterprise feature. ATP covers IPS, advanced malware protection, and application control. If your acceptable-use policies require web content categorization and blocking, you need at least UTP. Application control in ATP does give you some visibility into application-level behavior, but it is not a substitute for full URL categorization.

Can I upgrade from ATP to UTP or Enterprise without buying a new license?

Yes. Fortinet supports mid-cycle bundle upgrades. You purchase an upgrade SKU for the difference in tier value prorated over the remaining term. Contact DataCenter360.ca and we can pull the current renewal date from your FortiCare account to generate an accurate quote for the tier upgrade.

What does FortiCare Premium include, and how is it different from FortiCare Essential?

FortiCare Premium (code 247 in Fortinet’s catalog) provides 24×7 technical support, next-business-day advance hardware replacement, and access to FortiCare’s premium ticket queue. FortiCare Essential is business-hours support only. ATP includes FortiCare Premium, which means your support entitlement is the higher tier — no separate FortiCare purchase is needed.

Does FortiSP5 affect how ATP services perform on this model?

Yes, positively. The FortiSP5 is Fortinet’s purpose-built security processing unit — it offloads and accelerates firewall, VPN, and security inspection tasks that would otherwise run on a general-purpose CPU. On the FortiWiFi 70G, this means IPS runs at up to 2.5 Gbps throughput with lower latency than CPU-only alternatives at the same price range. ATP services benefit directly from this hardware acceleration.
