A breakout cable turns a single 100GbE QSFP28 port into four independent 25GbE links, which is how you connect four 25G-capable devices to one high-density firewall port without burning four separate cages. The FN-CABLE-QSFP28-4SFP28-1 is Fortinet’s 1-metre passive version: one QSFP28 connector on the switch or firewall side, four SFP28 connectors on the far side, all optics integrated. It is Fortinet-qualified, so both ends are recognized by the appliance.

It conserves port count on the dense side and keeps the whole four-way split on low-cost, low-power copper. At 1m it suits same-rack or adjacent-rack fan-out.

Compatibility

The single QSFP28 end goes into a 100GbE port that supports 4x25G breakout; the four SFP28 ends go into 25GbE SFP28 ports. Confirm the QSFP28 port is configured for breakout mode on your FortiGate. For longer fan-out runs, use the 3m FN-CABLE-QSFP28-4SFP28-3 or 5m FN-CABLE-QSFP28-4SFP28-5. For a straight 100G-to-100G link, use the FN-CABLE-QSFP28-1.
